Selling or buying other Nuclear Pharmacies

That rumor has been around for awhile. Triad MIGHT be interested, they bought Mallinckrodt's pharmacies, but there is a lot of overlap (ie, Dallas, Houston) between GE and the old Mallinckrodt houses.

There are some independents available, but most of those guys were used to charging high prices (only gas station in town) and they might have a high value of their business.

I know that GE always had a problem dealing with the nuclear pharmacies ... it was a business they had a hard time making their way fit into the state and federal regulation of the nuclear pharmacy business.

It seems GE continues to monopolize the proprietary RP markets.
Blocking distribution to independant Radiopharmacies hurts the free market place. Drives pricing and limits patient care. ALL WRONG in todays health care

GE double standard of granting rights to Cardinal and Triad in current GE markets smacks of restraint of trade.

Hope FTC nails them and SOON

Has anyone heard about Novation, who the Nuclear Contract was awarded to.

You mean Cardinal/Syncor's exclusive deal with DuPont/BMS for years which made Cardinal/Syncor the sole distributor of Cardiolite was okay (well, Cardinal/Syncor could allow some small independents in the hinterlands where they didn't service to buy Cardiolite from the mfg.)?

From what I understand (and it's been several years since I've been in the business), GE has made their proprietary products, including Myoview and the infection agents, available to Cardinal/Syncor for several years and to independents for years prior to that..

New rumors of a sale of GE Healthcare's radiopharmacies are running rampant. Anyone heard the details of the buzz? A Swedish company seems to be the top contender with 2 others in the running.

GE definitely want to try to market pharmacies again - on new more accurate profit models that was implemented within pharmacies for 2013. Pharmacies are not run well overall. Managers seem clueless on how to make profitable pharmacy and regionals are not involved in turning them profitable. Will not be able to sell pharmacies for nearly as much as they will want once real profit numbers are revealed. Lots of the pharmacies are actually LOSING money with now accounting system (numbers that would be more accurate if each pharmacy treated as independent.)

Part of the problem might have been the influence of the old Nycomed folks (of which I was one) ... many of the old contrast media managers who were involved in the sales side of the business were market share driven ... they wanted business and sales dollars, not profit. I had a manager telling me that I should insist we get the business at a certain account where both I (as the sales rep) and the pharmacy manager knew that we would never make profit on that account because of their expectations of frequent and free delivery. Let the idiots at Syncor (now Cardinal) keep that money loser.

Has anyone heard any more recent news of ge purchasing more pharmacies not selling their nuclear pharmacies since they are in the generator business now or getting there? Any particular nuclear pharmacy companies Ge is looking to purchase if the rumors I hear are true? We all know the main players: cardinal , triad, and ge and uppi if you count them.
