review of management

as an employee who was here pre-amgen and post-amgen, this week was very emotional. to see the doors close on a great company due to corporate hq mismanagement sucks. i've been doing a lot of comparing / contrasting management styles and here's what i feel

ceo: tony coles vs pablo cagnoni --> here, amgen actually did a good job. thank god we didn't get someone from amgen at this level. pablo did his best to inspire onyx to new levels. while it didn't work out, he stuck with the organization through and through and will be remembered positively.

cfo: matt fust vs bob goeltz --> amgen messed this one up royally. matt was 20x better than this random middle manager in finance from amgen. bob had no idea how to communicate to the rest of the organization and apparently everyone working with him knew it. he squeezed the organization for random pennies for no reason and took $ away from productive causes. no one liked this guy; stay away from him in SSF.

coo: this position was kept with the same person in charge. no comment.

chief commercial: helen torley vs mark mcclung --> helen was razor-sharp and on top of her game. i don't think mark had enough time to materialize as an executive and was put into a very challenging situation b/c midway through his tenure amgen decided to shut onyx down. but apparently he was doing a good job right until that decision was made...

medsa: rosh dias was amazing. apparently he chose to stay with amgen even though he could've received way better options if he stayed in the bay.

there were other functions where the leaders from amgen were also total laggards and messed everything up (i.e. christine o'brien, cristina carliss, garlan lyons, etc) but i'm too tired to comment further and will leave it up to others to continue this thread if they want. in general though the leadership replacements from amgen were absolutely incompetent and one of the primary reasons why we had to shut our doors this week.

Onyx was a poor performing entity before Amgen.

We closed you down because we couldn't stand your low level of performance. We also don't like liberals and how you hired dirty vagabonds who should have never been in the industry.

Everyone at Onyx was a joke. Helen Torley was ex-Amgen and she left Amgen because she was going to be fired. She was at least smart enough to fool you losers.
