Reps moving on...

Where have some of you gone after leaving COV? Intuitive is obvious, as is maybe Baxter. Looking to see what opportunities have opened up from succeeding in our space. Stayed in disposables? Changed niches?

Here's some places they have gone after Covidien. I know the reps who have gone to these companies:

Acclarent
Applied Medical
Starion Instruments
Spineology
Endogastric Solutions
Surgiquest
Salient Surgical
Medtronic

2 left medical entirely and went into IT sales.

Some of the higher ups went to DeVillbiss and Aueron Labs

You can also go to Linkedin and do an advanced search and in the company put Covidien and use past or present and you can see where others have gone. A lot of the Covidien people stay connected through there.

There is a life outside of Covidien. Hope this helps.

I am looking to get into the Vascular Division in Sales Management. I only have renal clinical and some renal sales management background. Looking to see if my background would be a fit.

Can anyone give me some insights on this division regarding compensation, QOL, promotional opportunities, pipeline, etc? Also, does Covidien have a recruitment department or do they use outside recruiters? Thanks in advance.

Core Vascular is a great place to work, however, there is no "Sales Management" program. Renal sales would help to prepare you for the position since dialysis catheters are part of their bag. Covidien is an outstanding company...I've been there for five years and have sold in Vascular as well as Medical Supplies.

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify I was not looking for a sales mgt program. What I was trying to say was that I have experience managing sales reps who sell renal products (devices, machines) to Nephrologists. I just wasn't sure what the vascular division is made up of regarding therapeutic disease state. I knew renal was part of it but wasn't sure how much. Thanks again.

Which division did you enjoy more?

Which division did you enjoy more?

That's hard to say. They both have their pluses and minuses. When I was with Vascular, it was a much different environment and the opportunity for big paydays was a bit more prevalent. Medical supplies is a much more commodity sell but the overall culture of the division is much more enjoyable and supportive.

They're both great places to work. If you need more information, please feel free to email me at medrep2066@hotmail.com.

Where is the opportunity you're looking at?

Thanks for the info. There is no current opportunity however I was called about one in the past with Vascular I think (sales mgt position) but turned down the opportunity to get into the interviewing process as I was satisfied at my current job at the time. Oddly enough they would not give me which division the opportunity was with up front. With my background I am assuming it was Vascular.

I still enjoy my current job but I want to go back out into the field and manage a sales team again for a few more years. There are no open sales mgt positions ay my current company so I am just trying to get my eggs in a row if I am contacted about another opportunity with Covidien again. I appreciate all of the info and may take you up on your offer on your email address below in the future.
