Rep benefits

I appreciate the feedback! Most companies micro manage their reps. Very hard to find managers that don’t. Do you know what the benefit package looks like? I have an interview on Monday.

The benefits are are okay and the sign-on bonus i got when i started was very generous. Car allowance of 900 a month (this just increased a year ago as it was much smaller and disappointing for an ultra rare disease organization) with gas mileage reimbursement. Had lots of turnover in the last year due to lack of bonus and Ucl’s goals totally unattainable in some low market territories. The culture is good with it being small and not big pharma mentality which is a plus. What area you interviewing in? South? West? Midwest? East? That will determine the level of micromanaging you will receive.

Thanks for the feedback!! I’m interviewing in Pittsburgh. I’m currently with a bigger company, but miss the smaller feel. Do you know the salary range? Also, do they give stock as part of the overall package with an ESPP?

This company and its management are far from stellar- very much a junior high culture and clicks are in every department. You can expect to be treated like more like a kindergartener when it comes to the micromanagement. If you are not of the correct identifying culture you are not going to go anywhere but maybe forced to feel like you do not belong. So much for inclusion and diversity - you are making some feel like they do not belong here. Like others have stated and I am just repeating we have become a shit show.

Inclusion and Diversity? I think I was made to fill out a form (after the interview) so they could say they interview a diverse pool of folks. Good ol boys interviewed me, made me feel like I did great but guess what they also hired a good old boy who is a job jumper, but of course a canned response “you are not in our exact 15 mile location.” Folks whining about D&I don’t worry, POC are still not preferred and will be marginalized every chance that is given, specially if you are any sort of Asian. Especially if you are in the Midwest. White boys are still the rage. They have a few indian “white brownies” running around in upper management and that’s their diversity. Get out of this place.

Is it worth it to interview in the North East ? What is the level of micromanaging there. I would be leaving a pretty good company/setting for Ultragenyx so I am not really interested in interviewing and working for a micromanager!

If you are willing to work hard and are not easily frustrated you’ll do fine (just like any rare disease company). The money is great if you make your numbers (just like any company). The pipeline is strong. Interview and make up your own mind. Don’t go by Nancy Negatives on Cafe Pharma...

Working hard is one thing, but when you have unrealistic goals that you have zero control over then it makes it that much more difficult to earn a bonus. Rare disease takes a lot of time to find a smaller amount of patients so the level of work that goes into getting one patient takes effort for sure. Otherwise, the company has a strong pipeline and is still evolving as its only been 3 whole years since the first commercial launch.
