Ok, so what happens now?

So what happens now? With a spin off, what happens to the sales reps? If they don't take us, will we get severance?

The unknown is what is unsettling

What we do know is Shire is in trouble and needs big money from somewhere- since they have not been able to make the money in sales, have spent an absurd amount buying up other companies, the only thing they can do now is sell a big asset like the NBU.

We could end up jobless in 6 weeks or jobless in 6 months depending on who buys us and when.

We could end up working for a better company like Allergan, who decides they need neuroscience reps

The likelihood that someone buys us and keeps us all is possible but not likely considering the way these assholes have bloated the sales force and created an adult and Ped division
The RD's are an extremely oversized group, managing 6-9 people is a waste. They are very disposable. There is always uncertainty is our industry but the stupidity of PS, MR and maybe KC (he really is to stupid to be fully blamed for anything) has put us all in a very bad place.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst is all we can do.

Part of my hope is that when this is all over, I will be working for an organization that has inspiring leadership

It's worth reading the analyst reports and Bloomberg on all of this. There's a reason the stock dropped further after FO's "big news," nobody thinks it's going to fix Shire. Why ? First, it's no secret that FO and our Board spent too much on Baxalta and are now saddled in debt and are desperate. Second, everyone knows that if the NS franchise were doing well they'd not want to sell it off. Third, it's an open secret FO is guided by McKinsey, who only know how to conduct financial engineering when things go south and leadership has failed. Fourth, it's also an open secret there's nothing novel in the NS pipeline, that R&D delivered nothing but new formulations of amphetamine. Fifth, Vyvanse, a perfectly good drug, goes generic in 2023 and will undercut Mydayis even more than Adderal/XR undercuts Vyvanse. So thanks to our flattening numbers and uninspired leadership the value of NS is not viewed all that positively, and without a pipeline or long-term prospects. Maybe an IPO might work, but won't be all that valuable. Finally, any prospective buyer will know this and assume that to make a deal work they have to cut costs. That's us and the rest of the BU - AGN doesn't need any more sales reps.

Even if a company buys the neuro division it would have to be at such a discount that Shire would get very little return for a division that will produce over $15 billion in sales until 2023. Phlegm put these shaved apes in charge of NBU because he never gave a shit about the division. Perry never convinced him not to get rid of the division FO just slow played the entire thing and either perry knew or he's so stupid that Phlegm knew PS would never catch on. But before he could dump his red headed stepchild he needed to grow shire into a rare disease giant. Enter baxalta, and for an added bonus it increased our debt holdings so considerably that the sell off of the NBU could be considered a smart business move to keep him in good graces with the board.

So...
What happens next? Spinning off and taking a non majority stake in the company is one method to hopefully recouping some potentially lost revenue. However that won't happen because there are fewer guarantees for this to be successful. The best option is to sell the division and the only likely companies with neuroscience divisions are Pfizer and Allergan. Guess what, they already have enough reps. Your position here in the NBU is no longer needed and any company that purchases it is not looking for any of our services and this includes any person who touches the NBU in any current capacity. Take the time that we have left and find the enjoyment in what you do and who you are. I'm hoping for the best for all of you.

Phlegm really screwed up with the Baxalta purchase. Baxalta didn't want to sell, shareholders didn't want him to buy. Baxalta reps didn't want to go to a pharma company, Shire reps didn't want a another bio-tec taking away from the neuro focus Shire had.

Now here's what we have:
Shareholders are mad because the stock is tanking
Legacy Baxalta is not happy and leaving in droves
Neuro is about to be sold
Leadership refuses to look forward and implement ideas that can actually help. instead they rehash ideas like a contract sales force like this was 2005.

What is abundantly clear and beyond dispute is that the stock is at a 4-year low, we compare poorly with all of our peer companies in terms of value appreciation, and our morale sucks. Conclusion - the leadership group has failed miserably and cannot compete with the big boys. Worse, with orphan pricing under pressure FOs "strategy/vision" for the future now seems seriously out of date.

The biggest problem with this whole plan is simple... there isnt another CEO out there as dumb as ours who will overpay for the NBU... if FO was out there he would overpay by several billion dollars just ad he did with baxalta... Now he will be on the flip side and be forced to under sell by billions of dollars... Will Perry address this in NYC? He just told us a month ago how he fought for us and explained to flem it would be a terrible idea to sell NBU? What happened in the last month? Our leadership may have the title for worst in history. Very sad that they were able to destroy such a great company. Oh but thanks for finally giving us an afternoon off at our meeting in NYC... after all the awful meetings you have operated you decided to do that this time. Do you really think we cant see past your desperate attempts to get us to respect you. Not gonna happen...

Back to the original question. You have a couple options here:

Any spinoff won't be until the end of the year. You have time now to get yourself together, your finances, your resume and start looking if you are not willing to stay around.

if you have tenure, you may want to stick around and see what happens. But before making that decision, you will want to know what exactly the severance package will look like. Don't forget, FO changed it during the at the AbbVie merger though. You will want to know what the number of weeks per year is and also what the notice period is. 30 days <500 people layoff and 60 days for >500. Anything beyond that, that may be considered an "enhanced package" is bullshit and can be negotiated away.

Bottom line is it usually works out! If you are a solid rep or RD you will land somewhere. Just make sure you straighten out your finances and cover yourself while you are finding work. Usually about three months. Truth is the Trump economy is doing great. Companies are hiring people so you may want to look at other industries as well. Just network, network, network!

Relax. Don't be victim, these ass holes owe you nothing and vice versa.

Quick reality check - Perry is a bold faced liar! And has been since the first day he got here. If you'd like I'd be happy to list many examples
