There are many vacancies in the NBU, none are posted. Any that were there have been removed.
Business as usual says Perry. Except for the fact that a Hiring Freeze is in effect.
 


















We are headed towards great things. Hiring freeze will be lifted in September and 40 positions will be filled. Highly recommend you tell any friends or colleagues to jump on board if they are currently not working or are seeking better opportunities.

a Hiring Freeze is the first sign of the end of a business unit. When an organization decides not to fill any open positions that means it is over. Especially when they decide not to fill any open positions during a new drug launch, that is unheard of. Probably explains why they are doing a contract sales force. The contract reps will most likely fill the vacant positions while the NBU is up for sale.

NBU will be gone by the end of this year. They would cancel the launch if it wasn't already bought and paid for.
This was in the cards as soon as shire decided to become a bio-tec. Unfortunately, NBU is simply Pharma experience. Many of the reps don't have the qualifications to get into the other business units.

Many are predicting OBU is next. Fortunately for OBU reps, it's definitely more specialized than NBU. There are companies dedicated to eye care. No company sees any need for dedicated ADD anymore.

Anyway, if hiring freeze in confirmed it makes me even more mad about the phone call we had to announce the contract reps. They did sound like a bunch of liars. They have been planning this forever!

Last time it was upper management that was downsized first. Then it trickled down. No wonder we have seen so many jump ship.

If you are on a sales team that's not close to hitting their numbers, making no bonus, and the company decides to bring in contract reps, how can you be surprised by any of this? You choose to bury your head in the sand.
 






The fact that the company just restructured the NBU and created more territories and hired MORE REPS and MANAGERS barely 5 months ago makes this announcement a little surprising.

Sad that Shire so recently RECRUITED people to come here with the promise of a new drug launch adding stability to the NBU

Shire is going no where. Reaching for the stars....my ass. NBU is Shire. We bought and paid for everything. Hemophilia will be down a billion dollars in under a year or two, losing 800k from Lialda. Good luck on your own and suck it

My reply dealt with the comment where a smug rep felt the need to delude themselves by thinking they have more valuable skills than anyone else. Sorry, but pharma is pretty much pharma. We will all be given walking papers soon enough, even those in the OBU.

It is a bit shocking given we are launching a product. We just had Perry's greasy ass slither on stage in Dallas and lie to our faces. We had Phlegm do the same thing a year before when he said he didn't want to sell either. Plus an expansion!

There is no question now. This meeting will be epic in its awkward moments. Even the brown nosing upstarts won't be arsed to spend time surrounding Perry and the rest to kiss butt. There is zero reason to do more than have a professional cold demeanor towards these sharks and it will be interesting to see how things will be handled.

Too bad they didn't send the Glint survey out a little later!
