No, I have to offer some discounts to my big accounts and and throw in some free skin cream
Any decent specialty pharma sales job at minimum starts at 115,000 in base these days.
This isn't true in my experience.
I have been interviewing a LOT in the past 4 months as I work for a company who has been all over the news lately... (kill me)... but am being picky as I am still (and temporarily, I'm sure) employed. And these companies promise incredible salaries pre-interview as most of the job descriptions are written by recruiters. Once you get to the final stages of the interview and find out the salary and bonus potential, it's nothing even close to the posting.
I've spoken with 7 companies across many specialties and the highest base I've seen is $85k. And they thought it was the coolest thing ever. Even mentioned, "we get a lot of interest because of our huge base."
I would be happy to find an opening at Allergan for $80k base.
I think you guys should know what's out there.
Of course it's specialty, I would never waste my time otherwise.
FYI People lie on the MedReps survey.
You can disagree, I am just telling you that is a reality.
This industry used to be six figure bases everywhere, but now the whole industry is owned by three companies so can set the cap where they want. At <80K. Pfizer is one of the cheapest.
Dealing with managed care in Oncology is a nightmare to boot. Instead of selling clinically, you spend all of your time memorizing and juggling coverage. I know because I've been there. Woof.
NO ONE at Allergan is speciality. You call on PCPs and work in a POD you are not specialty. The fact that you call on a specialist does not make you a specialty rep. Glorified Primary care Forest reps. You might have been in a previous life but don't lie to yourself now.
I weep for true specialty reps who have gotten stuck in Forest PCP hell!
The aesthetic division is 100% specialty. We are an elite sales force you could only wish to be part of. No one can replace our skill set.
and delusional
If the Aesthetic division was made up of the elite, and these were such fantastic jobs, why would there be so many openings? I noticed that the AGN cosmetic reps look plastic and have shit for brains.
Botox Cosmetic is NOT a clinical sell. INTELLIGENCE NOT NEEDED. Got implants? Size 2? We Will hire you.
Well, if nothing else you've cornered the market on being annoying.

How dare you! We are specialists in Business development and help these practices grow. We truly are an elite sales force. We are excellent in probing and know how to create demand. Clearly, you would never be accepted into this division. There are openings, yes, because we don't just accept anyone. Pfizer will not touch us because we are what makes Allergan successful. You don't mess with what already works and we are worth every dollar we get.
Sweetheart, how long did it take them to teach you to spell Business Development?
