Idorsia contract

Is the above player trying to say working for a contract sales company is better than a big Pharma job? You have got to be kidding me

Don't think they said contract jobs are better than big pharma, they said not much difference. And I agree. All those advantages listed used to be true 5-10 years ago but not so much anymore. Perhaps PTO vs. vacation but the rest of the differences - base pay, 401k, Insurance quality, etc.. - have shrunk. And severance is not guaranteed anywhere.

This job is frustrating b/c of the horrendous strategy. ..Not because it's contract rather than "big pharma".

you are clueless. I am on a contract right now and the base pay difference from the parent company is easily 40,000.

THIS. Don’t take my word, do the research on your own to prove my point. Call your colleagues that are “specialty reps” with parent companies, whether small biotech or big pharma.

Competitive Base salaries typically START in 120’s. Bonus plans minimum 35k. Better benefits. Severance package and the list goes on…

Finally, someone on this thread gets it. Let that sink in.

You are doing the same job but more programs, more pressure, more expectations, for 50% less pay.

Like the others said, this poster is completely incorrect. Way off the mark.

Got a letter before, now was given choice to resign and work for syneos again or go in a PIP ..I resigned and will NEVER work for syneos!!!
..this was a huge shit show

They did you a favor. Now you have a chance to get with another contract. I know a guy that was PIP’d out. He can’t get an interview w/Syneos now.

I know a few people who quit when they got the letters due to that rule with Syneos. If you get put on a PIP or terminated, you can't be with Syneos again. I don't think most people get past a PIP, so might be better to resign since you don't know how you'll feel years down the road, even if you are upset about it now. Syneos has a lot of jobs.

I would resign.

If the parent company has an in-house sales force then yes, a contract rep will be paid less. But many pharma companies are going to an all-contract sales force. And those reps are making competitive salaries OR they are confident they'll make up the shortfall w/ a great IC plan (which def. hasn't happened here!)

I know people working on contracts who are very happy and I know people working for big pharma who are not. That isn't the sole issue. The problem w/ this position is all the other stuff that has been mentioned. ie., too many reps (and mgrs), territories w/ near-zero access, target-only IC, bi-monthly field rides w/ pushy mgrs, micro-managing busy-work, etc. etc.. That is the problem here - not that it's a contract.
