Does Seagen really want to retain us?

I am confused. We go through the process of doing retention bonus but on our Region call with Collado she tells us to be dusting off our resumes and look for jobs. What is the truth?

I do not think Pfizer wants to retain any support functions. There was a reason they gave more retention bonuses to certain functions and gave basically next to nothing to other functions.
The way Pfizer has conducted their past acquisitions is an indication of how they will handle Seagen.

Retention bonus doesn’t mean they plan to offer a job past closing of the deal. It just means they want to keep folks until January 1, 2024 so there is no disruption to current Seagen operations.

No they do not intend to retain most of us. There is a reason the last chunk of RSUs are not given to you if your employment is terminated with out cause AKA laid off. Pfizer has more money than ways they can spend it but they still are not going to waste it!

Seagen has been desperately trying to find a company to buy them out since 2019. They went to Merck then Pfizer and others. Pfizer refused to pay what Seagen wanted, several times. Then finally agreed. Now they want us to believe that pfizer bought Seagen to get the ‘goose laying eggs’ and ‘special sauce’ and other BS. Of course Pfizer don’t want to retain anyone long term with the exception of some scientists and manufacturing people. Stop being naive. Polish up your resumes, build up your network, get the stock $ and whatever else you can get from the deal and peace out. It’s just business folks.
