The Tampa nightmare is still attacking AC. Anyone who has what she wants is a potential target. Some things never change.

agreed. Tampa, you gotta let AC go. Who cares if she is hot, she is a back stabbing b**ch.

It takes one to know one. The Tampa Nightmare must be envious, jealous, or AC refused to play her triangulation games and now is being attacked constantly by her.

This cat fight that has been going on for years. But AC is not the only one she attacks. There have been countless victims over the years but the funny part is that her backstabbing behavior is what destroyed her career. I guess she never learned her lesson.

Your career is not destroyed if you are an ID with no direct reports and no accountability for any sales and you make more than any CBD in salary.

Oh but you are wrong. Once senior leadership decides that you are not fit to lead others and reduces you to a position as a single contributor, then you chances of promotion are over, zero, zilch. When was the last time someone was promoted after being demoted into one of these account director type jobs? Being hired from outside as an ID is quite different than being moved into them from a high level leadership role. Everyone at AZ understands that when that happens, that person has been voted off of the island.

The account director role is full of these demoted losers who are just hanging on until they get a package or can take retirement. There are a few I.D.s who make the list of demoted losers too.
AZ wanted their egos to push them to resign but the ones that are so bad that they know that no other company wants them.

The ID does what exactly? Cuz pretty sure MS is still single digit

I.D.s and Account Directors have the same job description: Up around 10 a.m., check e-mail and messages (usually none) eat bowl of cereal and some toast, head to the gym, run a few personal errands and home for lunch, join afternoon teleconference and give them the same worn out 2 minute update, plan a business trip for Friday and Monday so can spend weekend with family or friends and travel on the company dime, take a nap then watch a little T.V. before preparing for dinner. It is a bit more hectic if they have school age children. But you get the idea.

Don't forget "keep it clean shaven" so they can advance their careers further.

They do not call on doctors. They do not call on payers. They do not call on hospital pharmacy. All of us CV Spec DSMs would kill for this job but most go to external since all the internals are losers like Mark and Ravi.

Nobody aspires for the Account Director position unless they are lazy as shit or close to retirement and want to hide from accountability for their final few years. Break out the sweats, kick back and enjoy the obscurity. But make no mistake, you are also selling your self respect and dignity to become an absolute joke to your peers.

"self respect & dignity"? Seriously? The joke is that any sales "professional" calling on docs that thinks they have either is delusional.

This is harder than you think - all of it is just one big busy party. Do you realize how many hundreds of people here are just waiting for the implosion. WAY too many reps and the average ones will be purged

This is the by sure far and away the best gig in pharma today. Think about it all the people doing all that for 3 almost 4 years now and with 3 separate leaders above them and all this inertia - they are basically good veteran pharma survivors who talked medicine in 80s 90s and they are disappointed in how we came from most admired companies in America in the 80s to Turing and EpiPen 2016

The point is that most of the Account Directors were once in leadership positions with promising careers and then they imploded either by a lack of skill or a failure of character and were thrown a life jacket in Managed Markets. This protected their salary but reduced them to a single contributor, non leadership position. AZ was hoping that the blow to their ego by these demotions would cause them to leave voluntarily. The more talented ones did leave, the rest remain like rotting garbage. There is a reason why none of these people were ever promoted out of the Account Director role. The joke is that they walk around at our meetings dropping names and spreading rumors like they know what our future holds. They don't.

Good post. All very true. How long will this role be around? Does anyone in HQ think the IDs are necessary?

Ours is the most irritating person you will ever meet. She usually gives us a weather report at the beginning of her routine and stale managed care update that I guess is supposed to make us envious. Then she gives us a few self serving success stories taking credit for success but never failures. At meetings she is the head of the rumor ring acting like she is a member of senior leadership with key connections to the most sensitive information. Her laugh sounds like a choking chicken.

The ID in GA sucks and so does the HSS.
