It seems as though WMT may be planning to reduce the work force in the Hubs, but not until the end of the year. Anyone heard anything?

They most certainly need to. The hub concept has been one giant failed fiasco that you can lay squarely at the feet of one Robert P. Burrows. So much inventory had been built & shipped to the hubs to then just sit & gather dust - it's rather staggering. The money alone tied up in this venture is enough to make your head spin. This man simply has no clue of expected inventory turns to justify the amount of product that has been built & shipped to the hubs. It's too bad he never learned to acquaint himself with the concept of overnight shipping, a concept born in Memphis, by the way, by one Fred Smith over 40 years ago.

Simple answer is yes. Way too much cost and the entire concept was doomed to fail for multiple reasons. If you were involved in the project, you know what those are . Only person to stand up to BB was Ed Meyer and he was given the bum's rush so quickly it was amazing.

What is the over/under on how much cash will be consumed this quarter?

The thing you need to ALWAYS remember -- and NEVER forget -- is that Mr. Burrows is a narcissist. HE is always right, and YOU are always wrong. Period. End of discussion. Mr. Palmisano has given Mr. Burrows a very long leash. That's how Mr. Burrows has been able to achieve so much erosion of morale & destruction of independent thought & analysis. The Company line of open communication is quite laughable. Mr. Burrows does not -- and will NEVER -- tolerate a difference of opinion. He, after all, is a published author and THE FINAL word on any given subject. If The Board truly wanted to find out the real feelings of The Underlings, they should try implementing some version of Undercover Boss. Lots of strong feelings out there that are only spoken in whispers. It's The Underlings that actually have the smarts to turn this ship around & make it profitable.

To answer you question. Tornier never wanted the WMT hubs.
So now that the merger has taken place they will go back to flipping and shipping.
And there will be no need for staff in the hubs, only drivers. Possibly in Jan. of 2016.

Drivers? Bullshit on that too. Reps are quite capable of actually delivering sets and returning them. What a waste of $$$

The hubs aren't going anywhere. Too much invested in them. Pretty sure the hubs are undergoing renovations/moves to make room for Tornier inventory. I seriously doubt the majority of reps want to go back to delivering product 75% of the time. I don't.
