Why work here?

Honestly, I think if you're a rep and you point out something regarding any type of inconsistency, you are definitely putting yourself at risk. If you're a DM, you're a bit less exposed. You have to remember that you are there on a contract that is to be maintained by Publicis. Managements position is to make sure that no one "screws"it up so that everything runs smoothly for the client company. Unfortunately, this compromises the contract rep quite a bit. To the last post, what Ive experienced is that they will find other reasons to fire that person because they will look for them. Believe me when I tell you, they can find anything on anyone or set them up. Anyone knows this if they've been around very long. No one bothers to mention it because there is almost no point.

Great benefit. Decent expense coverage. As long as managers are cool it gets a thumbs up.

If you make the calls and they are legit, I just don't see it happening…unless your manager is real piece of junk.

What other ways can they really can you? Bad field rides? As long as you do what you are told, you should be fine.

Key to this mess of a job is to put on your humility cap on when you are with the manager and just make the calls, and do what they tell you. Its a mind numbing corporate gig these days, and not a sales job. It never was about sales. The profession has gone way down, as companies are cold and don't value anything but following the script. Wish I never got into this mess of an industry, I can tell you that. Worse, it seems like all sales jobs are really terrible.

Scripts are for walking commercials, not salespeople. Of course, being able to effectively articulate core messages in the context of customer needs is standard. Anyone can do that, but only doing that won't get you very far.

Sad but very true. They set up people that stand up to speak out; even if they can't find anything obvious. Hell... I've seen them flat out lie and not even care if you have physical proof/paper work which proves otherwise. A total crap shoot of a situation.

Yes, there is a reason why sales jobs are always at the top of the list as far as openings and being harder to fill. I am getting out of it.

So many variables here. What did they flat out lie about?

I was told by one of my mentors two things: If you want to get along, you have to go along.
That means just keep your mouth shut. Ive learned over the years to just yes them to death, and do what I believe to be right. Its frustrating as hell, but it beats unemployment.

You are probably right, but I refuse to "go along" or "get along" by doing something unethical or "entertaining" a DM by treating a field ride like a bizarre date where you're being paid to go along like you're some kind of escort. BLAH! I think I just threw up in my mouth.

Oh. I can see being concerned about numbers. Not the company lying about them, just relying too much on poor goal setting. Welcome to Pharma everywhere! Doesn't matter where you work. But calls? Aren't they self reported? In other words, I don't understand how anyone could lie about calls. Are you saying someone made calls, entered them appropriately and were not given credit for them? I can't even think of a way to do that.

You should never go along or get along by doing anything unethical. There would be no retaliation in any way for reporting what you perceive as misconduct in good faith. You can report it anonymously, or you can report it in person to any level of management. You are trained on this for a reason. Of course, "reporting" isn't required. If your supervisor's behavior doesn't rise to the level of harassment, but you are uncomfortable enough to throw up in your mouth, you can still reach out to HR. Then everyone will talk, the issue will be resolved and life will be good. For all you know, your DM may be throwing up in her mouth thinking she has to entertain you. She may be relieved to hear otherwise.

Oh no...The company lied about the call average that was reported in the data base. They also LIED about revenue in the territory, despite reports showing otherwise. You don't have to welcome me to pharma. I've been around for a while and worked for two large companies. Although this happens at many company's. There are some honest ones out there. Keep in mind that in a "buy and bill" scenario (some contracts here are not purely pharma). It's much harder for companies to alter numbers when you can actually trace down to the dollar., but the bottom line is...if you're not a protected class, they can lie and do whatever pleases them or the client. If you're a good rep, you can take it as a compliment if they couldn't find anything on you and they actually had to falsify a statement in order to set you up. There are some unethical foes here for sure.

Welcome to the real world, then. Check the threads for the big companies you worked for. Wonder if anyone there has complained about the same thing. Sometimes good people are treated badly for bad reasons. I would be surprised if that number didn't approach 100 percent.

That said, the likelihood of that happening at Publicis is significantly diminished for a few reasons. The most important being the leadership in general, but mostly HR. They are classy.

If a client doesn't like you. . . well, that's bad. HR can't do much in that case. Best bet is to listen carefully to what they want and then deliver. And/or, find another job. The client is king, because the dollars in your paycheck come from them. No lying required if they decide they don't want you. Is that bad? Not in my opinion. Business is business. Sometimes it is hard, and sometimes it makes no sense. Ultimately, though, winners always win. You should know.

What a crock! Did you just say that "leadership/HR is classy"? What a joke you are to say such a thing about the leadership at this dump, including the minimally experienced girl with the inflated HR position. This company is an old network of rejects from a previous reject company that all stick together and take care of their reject friends. If your manager is over 50, chances are they are part of this group. Sometimes talent will sneak in, but it is few and far between.

They also have little green men with one eye and tinfoil hats circling your house in tiny black helicopters. Beware.

Yep. You're right. I'm actually friends with those little green men. They like to gossip. They have placed s transmitter in your but. The project is called FAT BASTERD. They talk about how much you enjoyed the process. Soon they're going to turn you into Caitlyn Jenner so that you can segue into becoming a bitch. It's only appropriate since you enjoy sucking 'em off to keep your job.
    No but seriously...You're an idiot!

"...Sometimes it is hard, and sometimes it makes no sense. Ultimately, though, winners always win. You should know."

I'm not sure that I'm completely sure about what or who you are referring to, but Ive seen some really good people go down and some nasty passive aggressive types get ahead. So, I'd say that things are a bit backwards. Maybe 10 years ago...this would be more applicative, but unfortunately I think what was stated previously was more of the case.
