What Does Everyone Think Will Happen To Alcon/Novartis And Its Various Business Units This Year?

Just wanted everyone's honest opinion on what they think the fate of various divisions will be this year. It will be interesting to look back and see if we are right.

Alcon Asia will take over

 

CIBA Vision was a profitable and growing business before the unfortunate Alcon "merger". I think it is likely that someone, maybe J&J or Cooper, will make a play for that piece of the business. Sugical has a more difficult path to growth and profitability and will be harder to unload. If Novartis insists on selling them as a bundle, it won't happen. So look for a sale of the old Ciba Vision business and a spin off of Alcon Surgical. Still a lot of house cleaning to do in BOTH business units IMO.

 

Will all be sold to Rob Behee

 

Allergan.

 

50% of sales force cut. 30 percent of accounting and marketing. So much dead weight to cut. Buyer will offer 25 cents on the dollar of what Novartis paid for Alcon back when the leaders were heavy drinkers.

 

Goodwill Industries

Jabba the Hut.

 

IPO most likely option, if not only option.

 

Alcon will go on his own. Maybe a private investor.
