YES--I never should have left. GSK is better than most of them.

Best thing I ever did. My family has always lived well within our means. Bonus checks were always banked and not counted on to pay bills so money is not an issue. May get a part-time job when hanging out gets old but in no hurry.

I think alot of this depends on age group. Those ready to retire.....no problem, those younger may be causing some second thoughts

Sir, maybe you should see a specialist. You have been on this board weekly telling us about your issues. Life goes on, move on and talk to a licensed professional.

Kinda like saying a T-Rex is better than a Raptor. They're both dinosaurs!!

    What made you leave?

I hear most are regretting it. Most of them are now hanging out on CP just to bash the company.

Picked up the paper yesterday and saw that Avandia was in the news again; once again I knew I did the right thing. Haven't missed GSK one bit. Already have a new job in software sales - don't know how to deal with people that actually what to talk to you.

no regrets here.... calls coming in from recruiters in pharma, if you have hospital or oncology you are in demand... certainly opportunities for career changers too, opportunities for those that stayed too, if you have the right attitude and disposition... I didn't, left behind many that do, opportunity for all, thank you for the VRIF!!!!

Leave it alone. If leaving this pathetic job is still bothering you, it must have sucked the life completely out of you. Move on! There was nothing left of it anyway. Do you really miss the way GSK has appreciated you over the past 5 years? All good things must end. There is no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, free lunch and now no pharma. Pharma is dead. Good Luck, God Bless!

I know several reps who took the package just to be guaranteed the health care and needed the 8 years of service to hit the number 75. From what I later saw, the company still added the extra 8 years of service time to get you there even if you were cut. Is this not correct? These reps would have never left if they knew they would have gotten the 8 years and could have just rolled the dice? I feel bad for them. Hope it all works out!

Please keep it coming!! I just laughed till I cramped up! I knew many would regret it and apply at the Bell to work the drive-thru.

I'm sure some actually regret taking the VRIF but everyone I know, including myself, are glad we took it. The one thing we all know is that GSK is not the company that it use to be and the industry certainly hasn't changed for the better. Things are only going to get worse. Now was the perfect time to bail. No matter how long you've been in the industry if your smart you're looking for something outside of pharma.

I agree about the company and the industry. However, where the remorse comes, in my case, is a) missing customers and coworkers B) bored and out of a routine, c) realizing you gave up a 6 figure job and finding it more difficult to find another job than original expectations. The last reason is where most people are hung up.
On the flip side: GSK is selling a pill that kills people - Avandia, EXPENSIVE fish oil, 3 copromotes with another company that could get pulled at any time. Ethically, everyone of us made the right decision.

Well put.......I have the same feelings that you do. One of the biggest challenges is going out everyday and asking prescribers to write for meds that you probably wouldn't take yourself. In many cases ; the higher co pay brand meds that we all know can be written generically. In some cases these generics are $10 for a 3 month supply. If it's really "Patient first" than maybe we should tell the truth about some of these med : XR, XL,CR, Fish oil etc.

Ethics shouldn't be compromised despite the amount of many we earn.
