    History factoids:
No surprise it business as usual after the 2004 and 2008 debacles which changed the pharmaceutical industry. Gave Mrk big haircut in valuation.

2004 Vioxx Business Leads A. Schechter and B. McMahon

Enhance lead A. Schechter and B. McMahon

These 2 bozos and the same bunch of managers are still screwing things up.

The Mrk company saved from bankruptcy by non other than the Chief Counsel Ken Frasier ESQ.

Apparently you've yet to understand the difference between being a Have & a Have Not. The Haves, will & have ALWAYS look out for themselves! It's not just at Merck; its in EVERYTHING in life. When the Government makes a mess by spending the tax payers money foolishly, they NEVER say "we made a mess" no....they (both parties) sell us on political propaganda as to why it'll be beneficial to raise taxes.

The f-ups still rule because they hire other f-ups who suck up.
    Who's gonna can them?
    The Board? Right.
    The shareholders? Nah.

Weren't the negative results of Vigor compounded when Merck tried to sweep the negative results under the carpet? VIOXX didn't have the CV properties of ASA, so the small increase in CV events shouldn't have been a big surprise in Vigor. The circular could have reflected both positive and negative results of Vigor, but upper mgmt. decided to send out speakers who appeared to minimize the CV events.

So VIOXX, a highly effective product that caused fewer GI events was yanked.
Did any execs lose their jobs for this bone-headedness? Don't know of any.
Did Merck lose its solid reputation as a result? Yes.

Enhance should never have been conducted, since it was unlikely that a modest additional decrease in LDL due to ZETIA would have a significant impact on a surrogate CV endpoint. MRK execs who bought the doubletalk by a SP Svengali were made to look pretty stupid--and VYTORIN (another highly effective product) tanked.

Any MRK execs lose their jobs on this one? Not likely.
Did MRK lose billions in sales for VYTORIN? You betcha.

Just imagine these bozo's have created a dysfunction management travesty with more bureaucracy than the US government and without any accountability. After all both Adam and Bob are prodigies of this culture. Without a doubt the US arm of the company is the weakest link. Company has lots of cash to by more SP and buy time. There is going to be no organic growth as long as these Bozos are running the company. GSK, AZ, PFE and MRK represent the similar bread and culture.

Merck is run on the values of Jorge Merck who set up manufacturing plants in P. Rico.
