The British government can not stop any company buying any other, as long as the deal does not break competetion rules. But you all are correct in that they would do everything to try to avoid it. It is still not clear what tax break they gace AZ to a) build a new site in Cambridge, UK and b) fight of Pfizer, but the general consensus is it must have been large.

Ha Pfizer is hardly well run - no follow on from Lipitor, there biggest drug. At least we have drugs on the market to cover Advair going off patent.
