I was recently told that Pfizer is going to introduce new company standards. Drive time to your first and last call is no longer going to be taken into account as time in the field. I'd your first call is two hours away you better have your ass out the door by 6:30.
As a manager, I will never let a rep consider initial drive time to an appt as "in the field." Reps are notoriously lazy, almost as bad as government workers, worse in some cases. I will manage reps out of their job as a consequence.
Ha! Try to manage me out and I'd be your worst nightmare. You have so much more to lose than I do. Your job, reputation, career, marriage....all are fair play if you start a "managing out" war with me. Think long and hard before you screw with a good rep next time.
I liked it when my manager said expense reports, orange guide training, driver training, etc. needed to be done on my own time. I asked him to show me the HR policy that said Pfizer requirements done on my time. He said it was his policy. I said show me the HR policy that said Pfizer requirements done on my time. He didn't respond a second time.
too much bragging and immaturity on this site and now some jealous HQ bean counter is going to put all of us under a microscope. Fact is, those who make these rules, whatever they are, could not handle the job we do every day. The rudeness and rejection we face alone would shatter their fragile egos.
new flash: IRS regulations state that the miles driven from ones home to their first call are considered personal miles, so I guess that means it's personal - not company - time. It sucks and almost everyone ignores it. If someone tries enforcing it on you, just remind them that you don't mind being treated the same as everyone else, so that same whip better be cracking on EVERYONE, or it better stop cracking above your head. This is an especially effective technique if you are a minority, a woman, or over age 40. Just state you will not tolerate being singled out for alleged violations of fleet policy that are not equally enforced on all employees in similar positions, and drop words like "arbitrary enforcement," "retaliation via selective enforcement," and/or "harassing in nature." If your DM respects your intellect and understanding of employment law even a little bit they are highly likely to back off - it just isn't worth it to them.
What about the managers who leave a field ride early so they drive and get home by 5pm or to the gym by 3?
you dicks. I over report my mileage each time just enough to pay for my lunches and snacks for the week. Stop acting obtuse. This is a secret cash flow for you. Over report the miles and make some more bank. Second, by the way is the Costco return long con. I do my lunches and buy big packs of red bull and paper cups and napkins in bulk. Then I return them later in the month. That's an easy 400 extra a month. Pays for my wife's car payment. You submit the expanse and it gets paid but you get cash back on the item. HAHAHAHA COSTCO!
