Well here we are. First of October and business as usual. Just wanted to call out all the doom and gloomers who predicted the end for the PC field force.

I have no knowledge around anything that may happen. However one would have to be living under a rock not to realize the company can't maintain the current structure with the current portfolio of products and a major revenue producer leaving soon.

Unless something happens soon the doomsday crowd will look prophetic

Sorry to rain on your parade cochise, but even if you keep your stupid little drug rep job for another year or so, you are on a road to nowhere…

spending your time dodging corporate layoffs is no way to go through life son...

REMEMBER: Because of asymmetric deployment, not all areas of the country will be affected with layoffs at the same time. HQ is downsizing in small batches to avoid paying out the 60 day WARN period to displaced reps. A few months ago when my region went through downsizing, many on here were saying the layoff comments were from "trolls." Not true. Different areas of the country are going through reductions at different times. No calls in my region this time, but we went through it last quarter. We lost 5 or 6 in region. Manager said that this is an ONGOING process. So please don't be do quick to say "troll". Just because you are not being affected, that does not mean that other people are safe. Have some compassion.

A compassionate Merck would be offering openings to those being downsized....not hiring from the outside totally new people. People will move to new territories any day.

"Compassionate"? Merck may be the most vile, destructive company in history. Their primary goal is headcount reduction and they utilize every tool of personal destruction that they can.

"Based on changing market conditions we must make the difficult decision to restructure our customer facing teams..." Here's an idea Frazier, make the difficult decision to give back some of your excessive (unearned) compensation. Lead by example!
