I had the same thought when the announcement was made that PH was leaving for Novartis..we've never treated someone so well after announcing they were leaving for a competitor!

Nobody will merge with AZ now. A more likely scenario is that someone buys us out and gets rid of the entire sales force but that isn't likely either because we nothing of value they would want. Frenchie burned through the cash and sold off most of our assets and our pipeline is a desert of failures.

I think it is likely. AZ will not be successful on its own and less it has, easier to acquire. I guess it will happen near October as onc product launches are expected starting next year.

Imagine the merger of AZ and Novartis. It would be a marriage made in hell. Novartis is as bad or worse than AZ. Imagine two Brexit companies that are on the abyss to begin with merging. The merger would spell doom......but it certainly would be fun to watch!!

Save from what? We're on the path to $50 billion per year in sales.

There is 0 chance of a merger. Pascal, aka The Idiot, would never turn over his CEO position to anyone. We saw that with Pfizer. And, as the above poster stated, we are headed to $50 billion a year sales in a few years! Woo hoo! Go you French Fuck!

Kind of like our choices for President, Trump the Chump and Crooked Hillary. Can you imagine them both in the White House at the same time? That would be like a merger of these two loser companies.

Listening to Billy Boy give his emotional and compassionate speech about his 40+ year relationship with Hillary should have made everyone choke on their own vomit. He seemed to have left out his multiple affairs, his molesting of young interns while President and his corrupt Clinton Foundation that is nothing more than a money laundering scam for the millions they rake in from political donations. And women stood and cheered him as their champion. What a fucking joke.

AZ CEO is ok with a merger. Read his tone at article below. He is more intimate with other internationals, not Americans so prefers working with ex-US (not Pfizer). UK government more pleased by that too. Paul to Novartis. What better way to share info between companies to make it happen. Finally, AZ downsizing to get lean and more attractive for sale.

NVS will buy you and destroy you. NVS only cares about what it suck out of a company like AZ. NVS has not bought anything and has mountains of cash. If you work for AZ and NVS comes along, watch out...they don't mess around

Look for GSK to merge with AZ. GSK is dumping their CEO Andrew Witty who sold off their oncology divisions in one of the dumbest moves in recorded history. AZ has good oncology group with the MEDI pipeline while GSK is leader in epigenetic cancer compounds and has immuno-oncology compounds that could complement what MEDI and AZ have.

I agree that NVS would employ the Blackbeard strategy; he would rape and pillage, keep a few wenches, and then fire the rest

This is gonna happen folks. PH going over is a telltale precursor to this deal.

Agreed. They threw out the "rumor" to test the waters. Like in politics, sociopaths protect their own.

No merger, A buyout for sure, it's about time, many of us were waiting for this. Please buy us Novartis. This AZ sucks. Give me a package. We want this to happen! 2016 was the magic date.

Stock up 8% in a day. It's gonna happen. Where there's smoke there's fire.

Well it certainly isn't our stellar pipeline or sales performance driving up the stock price.
