More athletes and people of means should follow his example . . . http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/lebron-james-and-u-of-akron-to-give-4-year-scholarships-to-qualifying-students-015916347.html
I think this is great....especially if they don't let race be a factor....but let's face it, it will be.
This is a good program and yes, more professional athletes should follow James is doing. "While it's not clear how students will qualify for scholarships, this plan sets a clear and impressive goal for anyone involved in what could otherwise be a noble but squishy initiative."
Sounds good, hope it's productive. I'm happy to see many pro athletes get involved with causes like this instead of going the Aaron Hernandez route.
Race may or may not be a factor - Maybe more white athletes should follow suit with what LeBron is doing. Either way it is all good.
Agree and actually many white, Hispanic and biracial athletes are using their money for the betterment of those less fortunate. Jeff Gordon, Eli Manning and Clayton Kershaw certainly fit the mold for whites and Derek Jeter as a biracial athlete. Yes, it's all good.
All great examples - Back in the day, Ted Williams quietly did much the same - Especially for children's hospitals.
