Don't worry, Medicare is a relic of the past. It won't be around long enough to make a difference.

 

I have paid over $100K into this "relic". It needs be phased out over time, but many of us old farts vote and the politicians will leave it alone for those over a certain age. Truth is if you are under 50 I would not count much on Medicare or SSI. The programs will be gone are greatly reduced.

BTW I have an acquaintance down under who is T1 and is using a Libre. She likes it. Says it works well most of the time. She had one bad sensor.

 

Relax. No politician or party would want to be a part of that. It's suicide, and one thing any politician doesn't want to do is give up the gravy train.

Same goes for SS.

The numbers for keeping all of this going is peanuts compared to what the USA spends on propping up countries all over the damn planet. It's a fraction of what Barry spent in the last 8 years in expanding Federal government bureaucracy to implement his 8,000+ edicts, er, "directives".

The reason we got Trump is because people are fed up to as close as you can get without an actual revolution over Federal bloat, career politicians who care nothing about what their boss's (the taxpayers that elected them) want, and the near total isolation of the political class of wonks and 3rd generation bureaucrats living inside the Beltway.

Trump wil ether do what he said he would do: cut, slash, and reduce the bloat, get the Fed's back to what they were doing pre-Barry (and maybe pre-Clinton), remove business prevention, and get our economy moving again ... or he'll get replaced.

That means before $1.00 goes outside the US, SS, Medicare and Medicaid are fully funded. That also means before $1.00 for any domestic services, with the exception of deportation, goes to an Illegal Alien, SS, Medicaid and Medicare are fully funded for EVERY SINGLE American citizen and LEGAL immigrant or Alien.

Contrary to what the mainstream, Democrat Party controlled "news" feeds the uninformed, Trump has not said one thing about Immigrants. He has only referred to Illegal Aliens. Which BTW is a definable term in our immigration process.

More than conservatives.... The Democrats' impenetrable "blue wall" collapsed. And "establishment" Republicans cross lines and voted for Hillary at unprecedented levels. There are only shades of differences between establishment Democrats and Republicans, and mostly just for show.

What Euro socialists like you don't realize is that it's not Trump that united people across all the typical divides the Left has traditionally relied on control the great unwashed. Voters rejected a government that long ago forgot that it serves and is accountable to all citizens, not the Party and donors.

Trump might be a bore, politically incorrect, embarrassing, etc. But he's not a politician. I'll give him 100 days and see what he gets done. And I don't care is Pajama Pants boys like you go cry I'm your safe spaces for the next 4 years. Time to grow up.

That comes when you realize the US has rejected European style socialism. Time for you to step up and take care of your self. We're willing to be your ally, but not your Daddy. All those savings will easily fund Social Security and Medicaid medical for US citizens. We're no longer going to sign up for trade deals that put US companies at a disadvantage. We're all for being good stewards of the planet, but will no longer allow you to use Man Made Global Warming (let's call it by the name you started with) as a pretense to make us bear the brunt of the sacrifice, and cripple US manufacturing. We're already regulated to extinction; we expect uber polluters like China and Russia and other 3rd world countries to do their fair share, i.e. they need to bear the brunt of it.

The free ride is over.

 

To professional politicians, party politics is for show. Behind the scenes they're all eating out of the same trough. Their loyalty is to themselves first, then their fellow lifers, their party third, and then big donnors. To the career politicians and hacks, wonks, and their pets in the press, Trump is the enemy. That's why the lifers in both party's have lined up against him.

Trump is not a conservative. He's not a politician either. He seems motivated by disgust, and a desire to drain the swamp. Bring the US back to what worked economically: capitalism and less government, which drives entrepreneurs, innovation and good jobs to restore the middle class.

For generations our career politicians have given away the industry that supported a vibrant middle class, all for greed and their own security.

Trump is saying things that make sense to most of us, like controlling immigration to those with skills we need, and who want to be here because they believe in the ideals of western democracy. That means stopping the kind of illegal invasion that has overrun Europe, and nearly swamped us.

I'll give him a chance.

Over 300K users for Libre. About $400M in revenue. US strip sales are down but revenue is up due to this product. And, according to Miles in the Q4 conference call, users are getting reimbursement. Interesting.

So who can answer my curiosity. The new stuff at ADC is doing well but strip sales are down in the USA. Just wondering....Freestyle used to be a top seller.

 

If you worked for ADC you would know the answer.

 

Freestyle strips were part of a lawsuit about illegal sales across markets by third-party distributors. I imagine that not only did Abbott lose out on those U.S. sales because of third-party shenanigans, but also because the legal action created uncertainty and destabilization in the market for them among prescribers and patients. This should be an interesting test for the ADC marketing department.

I used to work for ADC. At another division...most the people I knew at ADC have either quit or were cut.

 

When will this be available in the US? I keep hearing "tomorrow". A family member would like one.

 

A hospital version has been submitted to but not yet approved by the FDA. A hospital version may be available later on in 2017 or 18.
