The little leprechaun has been exposed! Probably a millennial working at one of those trendy agencies where they were pajamas to the office, eat tofu for lunch, and have "safe space" to cry in when they have had a tough day on the internet.

I will normally check the posted links here and on other Abbott threads. Some are very informative. Once and a while you get the propaganda links like this one. There was a cute video about this little boy using Libre....it was a bullshit placement by ADC. Just trying to sell product which is their job.

He's not in NYC, he's in bloody London, or there about. His name is probably Mohamed, and he's not crying or wearing his pajamas.

Abbott and St. Jude have now merged. The question remains is how this will affect all of the Abbott/Jude employees. My guess is Abbott will not cut much from the Abbott side. But if you work for St. Jude watch out. Especially the St. Jude employees in administrative groups such has HR, IT, etc. My prediction is by Q2 it will be a blood bath for many.

St Jude will report into ADC, and Duncan will be in charge. Duncan will have to whip them into shape, and bring them up to ADC standards. Won't be easy: no other Abbott division has been able to meet Duncan's expectations. Only ADC. I imagine St. Jude DM's and RM's will report to their ADC counter parts, but still be allowed to manage their sales reps, and then be evaluated\graded by ADC sales reps.

My RM told my DM we will be replacing Abbott employees currently on a performance plan and headcount at SJM will not be affected. Duncan and Karl have no say in the matter.

NOT TRUE! You're wishful BS will not save you!!! Duncan will run the combined Division, and Karl will be his Sr Super Exec VP of Sales!!! Don't you KNOW how important Duncan is to Abbott?? Duncan is the MAN in charge! He has saved Abbott so many times, all by himself. He could take Miles place if he wanted to, but he LOVES ADC so much he won't leave his "Rangers".

SJM reps are inferior, and could not hold the TP for the lowest ADC rep. Just ask Duncan! Most of you will all be PIP'd out, the Abbott way. We'll start with any left alive that are over 50, then work down. Pip PIP POP! You'll see!!!!

What does Libre have to do with St. Judes?

    I heard this too.

St. Judes managers have been told they and their sales reps jobs are 100% safe, and there has been no discussion whatsoever regarding reductions etc. They have been told Abbott bought them, and they are more critical to the success of this endeavor than the infrastructure etc.

St. Judes employees have much to learn about their new masters. They are good at acquisitions.

In typical Abbott fashion, the Abbott senior managers making these assurances already have on their laptops the integration plans, including sales force reduction plan in detail, timing, the St. Judes people who will be impacted, and how each one will be removed (position elimination, consolidation, PIP, etc). Abbott knows exactly how much overhead it needs to reduce, starting with in 2017.

Senior St. Judes managers have helped create these plans, in hopes that cooperation will save their own jobs. Abbott is very skilled at creating this impression. After St. Judes management has executed the plan, their usefulness is over, and they will suffer the same fate. Only those who prove themselves to be ruthless, remorseless, and take pleasure in the pain they inflict will catch the eye of the Abbott overlords, and may be asked to join the team.

The only accurate comment so far is that Duncan and Karl have no say in the matter. ADC is not involved.

    Good luck to all.

ADC and BGM is in its last leg, may be gone with the Japan deal. So does Dunkie go to SJM? ABT always starts the dismantling by implanting ABT management at senior levels, and a few below as says. Isn't that how Dunky got to ADC, and how Karl came over too, as the spy?

So far, absolutely nothing. Abbott's official statement is that SJC is a part of Abbott Vascular. But someone apparently erroneously posted the announcement into this thread because it's more fun here.

Brit PR-Boy, two in a row? What about your promise?

BTW, have you seen what the competition is up to in the US? You do realize that while in the soon-to-be-former EU Libre passes as "high tech", from the US perspective, it looks like something from Star Trek ... the first movie? That sensor is the size of a Coca Cola bottle cap. Water resistant for "up to" 30 minutes in a couple of feet of water? That's "splash resistant, meaning it might survive a gentle splash of water. No other electronic device would claim you could take it swimming with that spec.

In 2 -3 years, if Libra were to make to market here, it will be a closed system. It will face cheap, open code implanted sensors that any smart watch, regardless of OS, will read and transmit via any smart phone, also regardless of OS, which will then transmit the data via an app to any open coded patient data base used by doctors etc. In standard Abbott fashion, it will cost dollars there the comp will cost pennies, and therefor not be covered by insurance plans, Medicaid\care, etc.

LibraGirl's link to that video really drives home just how outdated Libra looks. Reminds me the old SNL with Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd skit with the Czechoslovakia vacuum cleaner. There are already CGM sensors that are far less intrusive and noticeable, and it won't be long before fully implantable sensors that last 6 months or longer will be available. THOSE will be completely water proof and great for younger people with active lifestyles. Once again, Abbott lags the market.

This is not Libre thing here.

Your are wrong. Nobody in the market has anything like Libre. It's use is expanding and it has been well accepted. The G5 by dexcom is good but is very hard to insert and cost almost three times as much.

The above statement holds for now and the near future. Libre is on track to get FDA soon and it will expand it's market share. So for the next year of so it will be the most cost effective CGM on the market. If Abbott adds Bluetooth Low Energy to the sensor the product will be even better.

The real question is what happens in 2018 and beyond. Will Abbott keep the ball rolling with a more advance product? Bye 2018 or 2019 DexCom and Google (Verily) will have their first cut BLE sensor and Libre will have serious competition.

Abbott needs to accomplish two things in the by 2019. Make Libre true CGM (Bluetooth to cell phone) and make it smaller. Smaller is a function of sensor and batter size.

Abbott is ahead in all this. Will the company commit to the $30M to $40M in NRE costs needed to stay ahead?
Having worked at Abbott I have doubts....

A few simple google searches on CGM and you will quickly see names like Dexcom, Medtronic, Nokia, Qualcomm, Fitbit, the list goes on. Noticeably absent is ADC.

Making a case for Libre by stating it is "expanding and it has been well accepted" based on a test market in the 3rd world is deceiving. Stating that is "the most cost effective CGM on the market" based heavily subsidized cost to the patient in a test market is flat out dishonest. By your logic, if Dexcom gave theirs away for free in their test market, G5 would be more "cost effective" than Libre.

Libregirl, is that how PR is practiced in the UK?

To your last point, ABT has not been investing in NDP level R&D at ADC for years now. That is why they refreshed existing R&D to cobble together Libre: no heavy lifting required. And they are not going to start now, because the reason you are being paid to create some buzz on Libre is because ABT had been shopping ADC around for years as well. That's been the real buzz on ADC here and elsewhere for years.

Oh, and what's on the market, as in available for consumers now, is not the issue. Those simple google searches will reveal that there will be better sensors and open code systems "on the market" in 2017 and 2018, where it matters (here), which is before Libre can launch here. Not talking the hospital version; I mean the UK test Libre for patient use.
