The company has become such a place of desperation.

It brings out the worst in people and breeds a backstabbing culture.

 

No one is backstabbing anyone if they are doing something that goes against company policy. Actually you don't even need to commit an act. If you have reasonable knowledge of something and don't report it, you could be held liable. The punishment can include but not be limited to the termination of the employee.

The people who call you a snitch don't care about you. If they did they would not put you in such a position. If you see or hear about someone doing something wrong you are obligated to report that person. It may be nothing. Let's just hope it's nothing. That's up to other people to decide. Don't get in trouble for others.

 

People back stab at Merck because they think it will help their career. Sadly, it usually does...

 

Damage to people is always wrong. No excuses.

Let's acknowledge the obvious. Merck's culture is broken and broken badly. It's broken because that is EXACTLY what management wants. A broken culture leads to a place no one wants to work. MANAGEMENT DOESN"T WANT YOU HERE. Their only goal in the last several years is to get as many people to quit as possible.

 

There are some managers who will destroy careers here and everywhere else. Its a sign corruption and moral depravity at the deepest levels. Managers who engage in corruption can face consequences on their own careers, as they should. Villains..and fools..wearing the mark of evil....

 

No true. If someone is not following the laws of Merck they have an obligation to report it. There is corruption if you don't report it. It would really suck if you can't send the kids to a good school, make mortgage payments, or provide basic needs to your family because you ignore what co workers are doing. Please understand your manager is not your coworker. If you are disrespectful or make false accusations it is a form of insubordination. You can be fired for that. If you have any questions please go to HR. They would be happy to go over the rules.

Let's all work together, be fair, and always treat each other with dignity and respect.

 

this tactic can be traced back as early as 1994…What a lot of Merck reps don't understand is that (as you say) Merck does not want people to try and make long term careers out of being drug reps…(as in the past)

They want to get 2-3 years out of the eager beavers, and then want people to quit either out of disgust for the working environment, or because they have acquired the awareness to see what a scam/charade the company/job/industry is...

Reps are not the problem. You can't do anything destructive to the company name. You are almost too stupid to cause harm. No one really care if you exist. It's a good place to be right about now.
