The problem now is that major insurance companies, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois are instituting dispensing limits for all kinds of drugs, including Androgel and Testim. My husband who has to use 2 Testim patches per day to get his testosterone levels up to normal will, in July, have his insurance cover only one. They claim this is to encourage the use of these drugs "as intended." Still claiming that prescription dosing is still between patient and doctor, they say you can get the amount your doctors prescribes you but you will have to pay for the additional patches. Here in Illinois, that would be $300 per month. My husband was on Androgel but we found that it was sticky, messy, and got all over me, making my testosterone levels go through the roof. The patches alleviated that, but they don't stay on all that well, especially in summer, and leave nasty glue on his body that is painful and difficult to remove. We are hoping that Axiron will take care of the ridiculous, cost-saving cut to his prescription benefit for testosterone supplementation and be less difficult to use while keeping me safe from hormones I don't need.

What is the national sales total for this drug? It has to be under 10 scripts, this is by far one of the worst products to hit the market in years

Less than 3 months post launch we are getting 4-5% of the total topical market. Not bad for a "dog."

    Re: Axiron (Pit Juice)

Pit juice represents less than 3% of total market sales as of today, June 27th and your growth rate is already in the decimal places - DOG!!!

66% of pit juice "sales" to date has been FREE PRODUCT (pit juice). I'm not a CEO but that business model isn't going to last too long - DOG!!!

Finally, pit juice is no longer covered by United Healthcare so laydown and play dead, DOG!

The nice man from Australia took your money and ran! What a fraud! HAHA! DOG!!!

you have to give it away - if you weren't giving Free 30 day - no one would touch this ridiculous method of application!

Wow! You sound like an Androgel rep. Little insecure are you? I would be too as we are eating your lunch. This "Dog" sure can hunt. Pretty good for patient to boot!

Market analyst here...looking at the latest data, the Androgel brand does 95X the prescription compared to what Axiron did in the past 13 weeks. Androgel's new low volume formulation alone (which is only 4 weeks old from a promotional standpoint) has almost exceeded Axiron's sales over the past 13 weeks!

I don't see the Axiron market share for topicals in the 4-5% range, more like 0.08% (Androgel, Testim, Axiron, Fortesta).

Axiron works, but so does Striant.

Who cares? Generics kill the market in 1-3 years. Why the fk work my ass off for 2%-10% market share of a dead market. Waste of time. And its runny garbage. I'm embarrassed to sell it.

Testim is not a patch and is mo messy than Androgel. Your drug is not gonna make it due to your inability to promote it properly. "less transference" I love this one because the FDA will be interested in this tagline, the bad ad people will enjoy this one so be careful. Also, switches to Axiron have been terrified by the complexity of the dosing/application process. What guy wants to wash dishes in the morning after they apply this dripping POS. Its about the patient stupid, make it easier to use not more complicated.

Why not just use porn? It doesn't have application issues at all, and has been used for literally thousands of years. With great success.

Pills will probably be for Clomid or something like it with an indication for males. I don't think they can safely and effectively deliver T orally. So likely it will work by telling your testicles to make more T. More info from your doc would be interesting.

WTF? Who has samples and coupons built into their incentive comp? No one. Patients in my territory are willing to take the freebee but it's not turning into scripts... What a piece of garbage. I'm embarressed to sell it, let alone willing to defend it to the aholes on this board. It's a goofy piece of junk and I'm not going to waste my credibility in the office by jamming it down their throats. I can't wait until launch is over so we can bury this piece of crap.
