To all female California reps: The state recently passed SB358, the Fair Pay Act, which requires equal pay, regardless of gender, for employees performing "substantially similar" work. The law protects employees from retaliation if they seek information on wages or discuss them with colleagues. The new law is broader than the federal Equal Pay Act, and it is now the strongest equal pay act in the nation. Some companies may argue that they have a merit system which cause some to be paid more, but labor lawyers agree that this does not necessarily stand up in court. So, if you feel you are as qualified as your colleague at Pfizer doing essentially the same job, you have the right, by law, to be paid the same.

This is how it should be. I am going to look into this.

This is how things should be? Really?
Instead of a system where peole are ranked by performance, and raises distributed accordingly, you believe the governement should mandate equal raises for all regardless of performance?
Welcome to California - land of huge government and massive entitlement (even non-citizens). It's a glimpse of Bernie Sander's America. And it is scary....

You are missing the point of the law. If two people are essentially doing the same job, equally as well, they should be paid roughly the same amount!

Wow there are some serious misogynist men working for Pfizer. No surprise I guess. Just can't face the fact that women are better at your job, honey?
