Applied's 401(k) employer match is a scam

This post makes no sense. 401K's are your money. Applied's match might be a scam but it's still your money growing tax deferred. If a better 401k plan re company match is crucial to you, I guess you'll need to work somewhere else.

Social Security is the ponzi scheme. Anyone who doesn't see that is a moron.

It's true SS is a Ponzi scheme and although I am not relying on SS, or my 401k for that matter, when I retire, I have to admit Applied's 401k is a joke. The "match" equates out to only a few hundred dollars PER YEAR! And we aren't even fully vested after day 1. I knew when I signed up for this sinking ship a few yrs ago that it was only a stop gap until I found something better, but the market is only partially picking up, this side of the industry is declining (Thank you Applied for ruining laparoscopy with bottom basement pricing and sub par products) but I can't beat only working 20 hours a week at this dump. If Said can take my money and not reinvest it back into its employees, why should I want to work for such a communist pig? Morale at this company is at an all time low amongst reps/specialists and it seems to be only Grosshans and his chummy pals in senior mgmt are happy. I would be too if I was collecting $200k+/yr plus all those stock options they were given!

Time for the monthly refresher of this thread. We all got the "Time to sign up for the 401(k)" e-mail last week, and the language has not been changed.

To preempt the usual manager's response, read the original post below. The issue is not whether we're "entitled to more" or are forced to participate, the issue is the false and I believe intentionally misleading representation of what the company contribution will be. It's about integrity (which is a term Said throws around quite a bit).

I'm with you brotha. I'm a former employee who laughed at Applied's 401k. When I researched everything from the company's match, to the fees, to the investment options, I laughed and decided against participating. For anyone who has a family and is not planning on have SS in 20-30 yrs, you need be smart and educated so you can plan for your retirement. In the end, I made the choice to leave Applied all together, as I felt the company was going downhill fast, but to anyone still there who isn't happy, have faith, every recruiter and many hiring managers know what a crock of shlt Applied is. Most will even have pity on you.

And how exactly is it going downhill fast when they seem to keep growing?

Lets talk about rep retention. That's usually a pretty good indicator of how well a company is doing. Many reasons: comp plan is awful, mgmt is clueless and out of touch w/ reality, cheap cheap cheap, laparoscopic side of med device had its hey day 10-15 years ago (nothing new and innovative), not to mention reprocessing, I could go on and on, but I have to go jump on a call about our new UNIVERSAL clip applier which is the biggest piece of garbage this company ever invented!!!!!!!

When the chickens come home to roost there's always a lot of chatter. Worse than the companies shortfalls is the infighting that makes the b.s competitive practices worse. Better hang out an oversized bathing suit on the line and just focus on working. Which is the one true way to produce while the chickens of the surgical field cluck.

Typical Applied manager response. Probably one of Said's minions. Ain't that right John? Or is that you Grosshans? McElroy.....how come you haven't retired yet? Lee....get over yourself. You didnt invent the trocar and it's 2014.

This is the monthly refresher of this thread.

Check your Great-West account if you participate in the 401(k) plan, as the annual employer contribution (as measly as it is) was deposited the first week of June.

Hey chap! Good to hear from you again. Glad you doing the lords work and reminding everyone about this thread. I'm also glad to see your serious about making some changes. Posting to an anonymous message board is a sure fire way to get them to change their policy.

Well done bud! I'm proud of you for taking a hard stand. Not many people are willing to do that, especially on the internet. Man, of all places you can really stand out and make a meaningful change. This is it! Guys like you are going to go places in the future.

    Keep it up!

I hate to repeat myself, but:

    1) I did bring the issue to HR's attention and beyond their simply restating the verbiage of the policy they ignored me. No explanation, no clarification, just sent me the written policy. Same thing happened to a number of other people I know that brought it up.

    2) Based on this company's history it's safe to say that if someone states a negative or questions a policy more than once they are likely to get the corporate boot.

Once again, you've used the very sophisticated tactic of calling me "chicken" for maintaining anonymity instead of trying to defend the undefendable, deceitful 401(k) policy. Stick to the issue rather than distracting with a personal attack. And wipe the shit off your face from kissing Said's ass.

People use anonymous forums (that spin doctors like you also use) to express their opinions without fear of retaliation. "Protections for anonymous speech are vital to democratic discourse. Allowing dissenters to shield their identities frees them to express critical minority views … Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority … It thus exemplifies the purpose behind the Bill of Rights and of the First Amendment in particular: to protect unpopular individuals from retaliation … at the hand of an intolerant society" Supreme Court ruling in McIntyre v. Ohio Elections Commission (1995) . Even your great leader sometimes writes fake anonymous reviews on Glassdoor pretending to be an intern attempting some damage control. You can spot his condescending writing style from a mile away.

I am a former rep and questioned Applied's products/management etc & was unfortunately let go a few months ago. The above poster is dead on in regards to this company.....it's run by a narcissistic egotistical tyrant that is so clueless that he would probably sell off one of his kids if it meant making a profit. Case in point: my clip specialist has been blackballed out of multiple accounts, yet management continues to protect him for some unknown reason. He doesn't produce. He's lazy (he lives 2-3 hrs from most of his accounts), he's a bigot, and condescending to everyone who has to work with him. But unfortunately, certain managers stick up for him because they used to work together years ago. I hope for the sake of those left here that someone reads this board and views it as a wakeup call because this clip specialist is bad news in every sense of the word.

It's not going to be changed. Get over it. Your stupid monthly posting isn't going to do anything. If you want money for retirement, save it your-fucking-self.

    See you next month dumbass.
