Of course they do not want to dissatisfy their customers, but they also do not want to take huge write-offs when having to recall entire batches of cars due to current safety regulations.
Maybe the government should just eliminate all safety regulations, stop interfering, limiting consumer choice, and let MegaCorps do their thing.

    Free markets, yo.

    There is no super-secret plot.
Thee global population is expected to grow to 11 billion by the end of the century.

Freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to buy the United States government. Oil companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, Wall Street bankers and other powerful special interests have poured money into our political system for years. In 2010, a bad situation turned worse. In a 5-4 decision in the Citizens United case, the Supreme Court opened the floodgates for corporations and the wealthy to spend unlimited and undisclosed money to buy our elected officials. The Supreme Court essentially declared that corporations have the same rights as natural-born human beings.

Our democracy is under fierce attack. Billionaire families are now able to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to buy the candidates of their choice. These people own most of the economy. Now they want to own our government as well. The Koch brothers, the second wealthiest family in America, plan to spend some $900 million in the coming 2016 election — more money than either of our major parties spent in the last election. That is not democracy. That is oligarchy. To restore our one person-one vote democracy, Congress must pass a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and move toward public funding of elections.

Yes... Because as we all know, the U.S. suffers from a severely low amount of regulations.

    - There is no official accounting of total regulatory costs as there is with federal taxation and spending. Estimates range from hundreds of billions of dollars to nearly $2 trillion each year. However, the number and cost of new regulations can be tracked, and both are growing unabated.

The most comprehensive source of data on new regulations is the Federal Rules Database maintained by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). According to the GAO data, federal regulators issued 2,185 new rules during the 2013 “presidential year” (January 21, 2013, to January 20, 2014). Of these, 77 were classified as “major.”

    "Free Markets" indeed, yo.

Or... Just pass 5000 more regulations that don't allow kids to have a lemonade stand.

(CNN)Texas sisters Andria, 8, and Zoey Green, 7, wanted to raise about $100 to take their dad to Splash Kingdom as a Father's Day present, so they set up a traditional neighborhood lemonade stand.

According to ABC affiliate KLTV, about an hour later and after a $25 profit, Overton police showed up and shut the lemonade stand down because the Green sisters did not have a "Peddler's Permit," which comes with a $150 fee.

And while the city agreed to waive the $150 permit fee for the Green sisters, they found out they also need approval from the health department.

A Texas law prohibits the sale of any food items that could spoil without proper temperature control and lemonade is included. In addition to a permit, a health inspection must take place before a permit is granted.

That figures. A state right in a state that champions state rights, wants to secede from the US, has the highest rate of firearm murders, has the highest rate of capital punishment, and the second worst primary education system.

Where are the other 4999 regulations you speak of wingnut?

i was thinking more along the lines of cash for surrendering guns.

why not make it a difficult process to acquire a gun in the first place?
    problem solved!

So bad guys are going to sell their guns? And where does this cash cone from?
And.... Make guns as difficult as you can to acquire, so ONLY the bad guys have guns.
    BRILLIANT!

I think outlawing murder will suffice... Then, not only will we be safe from guns, but safe from EVERYTHING!!!

Now get distracted, bad-mouth your liberal heaven... and miss the point TOTALLY.

(CNN)Oh. Kids selling lemonade illeeegal. Okaaaay, officer. No permit. Riiight. The perrrrrmit. How could we forget the permit??

A neighbor called the cops on Jerry Seinfeld, his son and some young pals for selling lemonade without a permit by the roadside in the Hamptons, CNN affiliate News 12 Long Island reported. Seems a neighbor didn't like that.

The officer made them shut down the stand.

Whaddaya do now? Make an irreverent joke out of it, if you're Seinfeld -- what else?
