2016 Layoffs

I have heard that the employees got a very generous Severance or relocation offer. It is encouraging to hear that the company is taking care of their employees even in challenging circumstances.

 

Here is how the package works. Eight weeks if they cut you immediately. Sometimes they just give notice. One week for each year of service and 1/2 a week for each year over 40. Let's say you are 50 and worked at Abbott for 15 years you would get.

8 weeks + 15 weeks + 5 weeks = 28 weeks.

That's why I stayed when it went to shit. I got 33 weeks which is almost the maximum.
