Why wouldn't the company consider asking for volunteers for a severance package? So many individuals just want out. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Why would anyone want out now with LCZ on its way?

The culture, general burnout, no respect etc.. In talking to peers, no one seems to want to work for someone like Richard Smith and his RM"s. Just a toxic situation regardless of lcz

Would love a voluntary severance!!! Would hate to be mapped over someone who really wants to stay.

What if more than anticipated took the offer? Then it's not a win-win.

If a voluntary severance was offered to the MSBU 60-70% would most likely take it

The straightforward answer is that the company does not have the effect of adverse selection. The ones leave and not-so-good ones stay. Given that, some companies (like Merk) do take volunteer for layoff. The bottom line is that Novartis is a shrewd company(may not be wise).

you obviously don't know how things work in this game, do you?

the company wants you to find another job and then quit, so that the company doesn't need to pay out. win-win.

severance is usually the last resort.
