I think you have the right to be mad. If your over 40. If this is your 2nd layoff in a year. If you are interviewing for your old job, its ok to be mad. If you took a kam job, if your stuck selling patch, if they told you primary care was important, if they put the screws to you this summer knowing a cut was coming, it ok to be mad.
Sr leadership has proven once again that nothing that comes out of their mouths should be believed. So sad for a company that was once good to work for.
What are you even talking about? Novartis is keeping almost 80% of the PC reps without interviewing for their jobs. They easily could've done this differently and made everyone reapply but they didn't. This isn't something to be mad about. It does have to make some business sense so there have to be some changes made but by comparison this is a pretty fair deal.
Thanks for chiming in Richard R. Number 1 - how awful and shitty that you make current managers and KAMs apply for their jobs against external candidates. 2) how horrible that you are going to post vacant territories after today for external candidates instead of being loyal to your own who have put up with total and complete bull shit for 10 plus years! 3)how pathetic that this company would shit on good employees but Conrad still has a job? This place is a fucking joke!!!!!!
Re do your math, it is not 80%, approximately 100 reps lost their jobs today and ABLs and KAMs are all displaced, you have no idea what the f you are talking about, get your facts straight!!
Could have been worse I suppose! Maybe Novartis will be on a comeback in 2015. I have been here 5 tough years & look forward to a new launch! Glad the Derm product got approved!
You are right. When Richard R. first told us in Sept., he said 318 positions out of around 380 reps. Wednesday, he changed it to 277 positions. We lost half of our district. Most senior reps are gone. Too bad.
They also said there were 41 vacancies... 277 + 41 = 318... And you wonder why some people thing reps are idiots... Do us all a favor and go somewhere else.
You are the idiot, what does 41 vacancies have to do with anything?? It still means only 277 reps were placed.
Be thankful if you didn't get placed. One of our reps were placed in a completely different geography over an hour away from where she lives. They would have done her a favor if they laid her off. She has a youngster at home too. Kiss your home life goodbye. I feel bad because the majority of her targets are at least 2+ hours away. Its unfortunately the direction the industry has gone. Less reps equal Large territories
HR trying to save money by keeping her, hoping she will leave on her own, no severance paid out. Looks like some serious thinking to do: stay and look, or gamble that she finds a job before severance runs out. Still a crappy job market.
Your hired oh your fired! What a joke this company is. I guess they just keep the stooges in HR busy with all these hiring then a yr later firing. It so nice that the "swiss nazis" wait until u get close to the US holidays to can your ass! No feeling of loyality to those who's careers matter or families to take care of. Big Pharma is a joke! Never have I seen such a company that discards employees like it is throwing out yesterdays trash. I you guys were smart all should be looking at other companies and beat NVS at its own game by LEAVING them in the lurch before they csrew u firts.
The really sad fact is that NVS is just one of many pharma companies that pull that holiday lay-off/ yearly blood-letting on their sales teams. Motivation is typically an arrow pointing toward the door. Been in the industry long enough to also see the pattern that every election year there are layoffs, the biggest taking place in a presidential election year. Then it's always "The sky is falling on our industry!" blah, blah. Hard not to be cynical.
Novartis has usually waited til after the holidays to lay off, so the poster above must not have worked for Novartis...stop spreading lies about this company! Novartis is more fair during layoffs than most companies. You don't own Novartis so stop complaining as you are and always have been an employee at will. If you can do better then go start-up your own pharma company...stay off this board.
Ask a Pfizer rep how they were treated? Sat by the phones on a Thursday. Reps with many years of experience laid off. They were given no info on packages. Told their cars would be picked up the following Friday. Understand its the industry, not Novartis. They have actually been kind through all these transitions. Stop taking things so personally.
Thanks for the reply company lackey! U must be one of those ass-kissing NVS lovers whos whole life is encompassed by your job. Its not lies as i did work here and saw first hand what a bunch of F ups were in mgmt positions and company nazi culture! Loved it when at a mtg and NVS security patrolled the hotel like they were secret service agents checking id's and going thru your hotel room after check out. Just get a life and maybe u will be treated FAIR when they axe your sorry ass!
