Just because someone has cancer doesn't mean they deserve free medicine. People had to work to create the drug. The company needs to be fairly compensated. Such an entitlement mentality these days.

Gleevec, cost $24,000 a year when it was introduced in 2001; now it costs $90,000 per year, a quadrupling in price. Novartis made its back its R&D investment cost long ago, so its not about fair compensation, but market extortion at patients expense! Novartis is the only one that clearly is expressing a entitlement mentality because they believe they can charge and should get what ever they want. Great post Novartis PR!

Novartis only contributed 10% to the development of Gleevec, imagine that
Maybe they should be "entitled" to 10% of the revenue

And where's the finger pointing at the insurance companies? They're in it for profit as well.

Nice attempt to minimize or deflect the fact that people as a whole are catching on and expressing opinions to Novartis's shenanigans! It must disappoint Novartis Sr Management to see that people aren't as dumb as they would like to believe. Whether its one or multiple people, the facts posted are true!

I read this story, and it made no mention if the patient had reached out to foundations and other support groups. It sounds like her insurance coverage is awful.

Correction to the last comment: On second glance, it does mention churches and charities. Tough situation to say the least.

People are "catching on" as in Novartis' market share and revenues are increasing? Yep, people are catching on.

Buying market share + slashing costs to increase revenue
Vs actually growing are 2 different things
Even half wit pseudo executives with vapid credentials should
    know the difference ...dick ;)

Misuse of 'your' and 'their' in the same post. Double points.
