And what is ironic about this remark is that since it is pupil more and more people Re looking at to, so fewer and fewer Docs are willing to see you and as your access is going down Novartis is cutting reps - 40,000 in 4 years. Dumbass.

Just curious where you heard this from. Because IT IS being discussed at HQ as we speak but still debating. Could be 20-25 reps left in "select" markets or zero left with just NGNs for patient support and the SAMs/KAMs (not all) will take the place of reps to speak to our KOLs and key accounts. Bottom line, access is near zero without a lunch and even Tier 1s are getting tough to access with a lunch. No ROI for reps whatsoever. None.

You are entirely correct about access in our market and it is that bad or getting that bad in all markets. So, the question that is being asked to all HQs is not "Should we stop at X / territory" but "Why do we need reps at all?". They are asking us to show them a cost / benefit model for any number of reps and with any reasonable assumptions there is not one that justifies having any reps. The access to the docs in MS are so low that the list of docs that will see us is by indivdual name. How can a rep cover a territory large enough to have enough docs to justify the position? The doesn't work out.

So that explains why rep employment is in free fall.

It's a long painful path from where we are now to a total of 20-25.

I call BS on the 25 rep thing. I do look for everything to be cut back to single covered territories though for Jan 2015.

Bull! The reason we have the billion$plus (headed for second billion) is because of reps. And so will the third billion $ come from the work of reps. Do you honestly think that this product has sold itself? Get real! Get rid of reps you get rid of growth- left with existing patients on drug.

Gowd please just keep telling yourself that as it will make watching you guys get flushed so much more enjoyable.

PS - this is ver similar to what all the other 40,000 reps said in this industry as they were shat-out over the last 4 years.

Just talked to a long time pharma rep headhunter who says that rep numbers and hiring have fallen and will continue to do so so much that he is leaving the field after 25 years.
