That same arrogant idiot keeps posting- can tell it's the same person. You make us all sound arrogant... I was DSS now ESS and there is virtually no difference in my job day in day out except I have MAJOR drive time! The small raise not nearly worth it.

I agree with this, although I have peers that also made the jump to varying levels of success financially. Some wanted the "promotion" for career advancement and the ability to market themselves to other companies. For some, myself included, I wanted that to some extent but my focus was on the money. Not many folks wanted the ESS openings in my area so when I got my initial offer I politely declined. I ended up getting close to double what the original terms were. It still isn't enough, but it beats their insulting starting offer.

I agree with you about the offers on the second go around; the offers were surprisingly doubled at least. However, I think the original offers were so low because at least 80% of the original ESS build up recruited Amylin legacy who already were paid nice retention bonuses. Hypothetically speaking, the retention bonus, if it was spread out over about 2.5years, plus the moderate salary increase was fair. The expectation was that this team would only last or the reps would quit in 3 years.

If you were part of this initial group and you still work here, it has been almost 2.25 years of you being in this role. By June you are getting close to the sweet spot of diminishing returns if your salary has not increased at least 5% annually.

AstraZeneca as a whole is a shitty culture. ESS is just one pebble of the shit blend you find in your own toilet.

I like what you did there with the shitty culture and then a specific visual of actual feces.

I am an ESS and we consider ourselves no better than the primary care reps. We have the same messaging for the most part, drive a lot more and get paid slighty more. It's not worth the jump to move "up" to specialty I don't feel and many of my friends don't feel it was worth it. We drive all day and no matter which part of the geography we work in someone is disappointed we didn't see their customers. We have numerous bosses all telling us different things and backstabbing eachother and their teams. DSS is the place to be and I would go back to my old role in a second. Slightly less pay for much less drama and much less time in the field.

I consider myself better, my PSS partners can't sell shit and their low share has their manager up their asses. Worthless.

Primary care diabetes managers are awful micromanagers who provide no value, especially in the field.

Mine is only a micro manager when he is hearing it from his Director. For the most part he loves taking undocumented vacation so he can hunt and fish. Works for me. He is a clown.

Raises are in, ESS is the place to be! The proof is in the cash.

Hahaha! Who are you kidding??? ESS here too and simply not true! It's clear that AZ treats us all the same...ESS, DSS, PSS- we're all just same reps out here, doing the same thing trying to hang on as long as we can

The previous poster was just pulling your leg. Don't take CP posts seriously. The tone of your post sounds like the previous one pissed you off to no end.

I know to take CP with a grain of salt, but this thread is brutal. Is it worth applying for an opening in my area? Serious replies only, no trolls.

Declined the role. Spoke with some real straight shooters in the district, they are actively looking. So thankful to get some info and make an informed decision. Good luck to those stuck at AZ.

I bet we declined you. Specialty is a hard place to get into, highly skilled and valuable reps.
