There are many wannabees out there. People who never made it, and had low skill levels, they are now dreaming what could have been. Plus many are just plain down to earth liars.

Spot on! These reps today find it hard to believe in 1990, TWO of us (out of the entire sales force) helped start the 1st Managed Markets Divison in the NATION! The other 24 members were ex-District Managers or in-house product managers. (most with RPh degrees) Not my buddy and I. In fact, we went through initial training to be field sales reps together. 2 yrs later, both into MM. You are so correct. These people cannot understand it happened and are wannabees who never made it. Thanks for your recognition! We made it and both moved on! He has his own consulting company and I moved on to a very very small Japanese co. for a few years then retired since they paid sooooo much more than GSK. (known as SKF when I started.) Old grey here! Having fun though! NEVER EVER (this is free info) tell a company what you made or make on your current job. You will get maybe 7-10% max. I simply said, "What value to you think I bring to your company?" They felt GSK RAM's walked on water. I really did in a way. Their VP could not get into Humana or UHC. I was already "in" and asked them on the interview to let me call my customers. They declined and asked when I could start. Uh, "We haven't discussed compensation yet." That is when it got tough. Company car was a Volvo and 2 days after got home a 750.0 Hartmann briefcase arrived with "welcome aboard." It was a great ride then I realized I cannot spend what I had THEN! Assets have tripled since 2005. Pharma was a GREAT RIDE working 3 hours a day for 25 years.

hahahahaha! My podnah was Ed. Not giving last name. Both reps in training. 2 yrs into MM. Now I hear it is all from the outside. Reps have no chance! What would the answer be from a DM when a rep asks on an interview (by the way an "OLD school question" you are STILL supposed to ask ON EVERY intereview) "Where do you see me in 2 yrs, 5 yrs and 10 yrs?" Ha ha! They will say "Luck if you are still a rep!" You have NO career path. It went away. Done and gone. Eddie and I went straight from the field into MM and the rest of the team (about 20 people) were from Prod Mgt, District Managers, and yes, 2 from R&D (shocking but true) Mostly RPh but not this duo. the Eddie and Joe show. We went straight in. He did have an MBA and later headed up your vaccine division (or close to the top with Peetie) I was gonesville makin dough. Can't make this stuff up reppies. Get dem pies ordered fast and hot!

This post made my day! It seem so super unreal for a rep to go right from a field rep to a RAM job you think I need help. That says a lot about the major changes. Wow. I am shocked. I can only guess they are all brought in from the outside now. We had REPS who went straight into Manager positions. One beat me out, and she was a rep for 1.5 yrs. She was good-darned good. (former NCA manager-then SKF rep for 18 months-then DSM) Need some therapy huh? You need some. Ask around. Find someone age 55-60 and ask. Growth was off the charts. We had 11K field reps! Now? I would guess 2-3K. Going down the tubes fast. Retired at 48 yrs old. Cry all you want. It happened.

Even when I was aboard [ retired now ], they were useless and did nothing. In fact they were laughed at behind their backs.

Sounds like someone was jealous that they weren't a Channel Account Director.

Why should we be jealous, when at this moment my retired GSK friends know of two that are now back counting pills in pharmacies. Really !

Come on folks! Come up with something of substance. It is always the above short, choppy jealous craptalk. Come up with better stuff. Eddie and I did it. Managed Markets as you now call it (I think) We called it Managed Care and had the very FIRST MC Division in the nation and Pfizer soon followed us.
I got it, did it & loved it. Flew 1st class (MY points not the company paying) eating steaks at Marriott bars and just having a darned blast. Made 1-2 max. accnt calls a week. (usually one) Man, did the DM's hate us. So did reps. Pure jealousy. I need to hear some more iof this jealousy like the blatant post above. It makes my day. Come on man! I check in weekly, to hear how IMPOSSIBLE it could have been--welper young buck--it was 1990 and you are in "now world" where the managers tell you that you are lucky to be a rep and NEVER discuss a promotion or you will be fired.....Period. I can tell. No career path. We had many-home office training, sales mgr, RAM, et al.....You have nuttin but an empty sack.

Much exaggeration also in your tall tale .

Never felt a day of quilt, Also, i know you are a liar as none of the Channel Account Directors are or have ever been a pharmacist. To finally shut you up please give initials or stop with the nonsense already and enjoy your retirement. You sound like a very very angry person who is not enjoying retirement.

(no counting pills in my life-not a pharmacist & retired in 05 after leaving you in 99 to make a ton with a very small company for a short time-then had too much $-literally-since lived alone then and now-lovin it all) Come on with the initials son.
