Rouge is a shade of red Sparky . I worked for a company before joining SKB who did employment confirmations......checking on employees with various companies.....sales , manufacturers reps, etc.
Then like now, corporations make a dossier over many weeks or months......interviewing people with videos and depositions......all legal. When confronted, a slacker would be so overwhelmed there would be no recourse to take other than sign the papers and go.

Don't know about you, but in my 20 years I saw many reps leave. NONE said they were let go. Ain't that funny Sparky. They always say they weren't happy or found a better job.Think about that. Watch out if you get your call to meet HR and managers at a local hotel. Try to be smart.....you have a good job.

scare tactics, don't believe the hype.

The poster detailing our rights about doing the job how we see fit is correct.

It may scare you to read the mumbo-jumbo papers you signed when joining the company. I really don't care, because I've seen many reps of your type come and go. Go have fun Sparky.

To post #21. The "Sparky" reference is getting a little tired. That being said, I too have been around the block and seen a few things. Yes, we have a great job! Absolutely positively without a doubt, a great job! If only whacked out managers could get their egos in check. As far as the GPS tracking, it legally could happen. My husband is an attorney here in the mid-west. However, he says that if the company were to begin tracking a representatives whereabouts, it could hinder what GSK fought so hard to achieve (exempt rep employee status) and could end up costing the company either federal penalties and or overtime compensation. I would not advise to test this as GSK has in-house attorneys that could make an individuals life miserable.

Now, if you care to research what exempt vs non-exempt means to an employee in the U.S., you may be surprised to find that specific hours i.e. 8-5 can be a steadfast rule companies my apply to their employees. What they cannot do is define what constitutes "work". So, the previous post which identified expense reports, emails, etc is 100% correct. If you choose to sit in your company required home office (read the "mumbo jumbo" when you were hired. It is clearly stated) from 8AM until 10AM working on ANYTHING GSK related, you are within the compliance of the law. The law that GSK spent thousands of man hours and millions of dollars trying to achieve. I have given you the facts as I know them to be. The facts based on an experts view and experience. So you can listen to what I have said or you can take the advice of the person who over uses the the put-down term of "Sparky". Bottom line, do your job. Between the hours of 8 -5 work on things that help the company. You have every right to take a few breaks throughout your day. That doesn't mean that you can take off and take a pilates class during the middle of the day. It means that you can pull over and grab a bottle of pop and listen to the radio for for 15 minutes, then get back to work. At 5PM, shut it down and get back at it the next day. It's that simple. Managers who insist on reps doing administrative work before 8 or after 5 should be referred to HR. I promise you, those abusive behaviors will cease. We have a great job, don't let out of control managers ruin it for you or your families.

.........and thank you also from the wife of a bottom feeder lawyer. You have no idea what goes on. No idea at all. Yes , I know where ONE of our legal offices is located in Philly......and I have been there. Please shy away from so called " legal " advice from the amblance chasers. Sorry the word " Sparky " set you off . Duh !

Great post by #24! Thank you for your insights. I work for one of those out of control managers. They require reports for things that the company already complies for us. Taking hours per week of our personal time. Other teams / districts are not having to do these reports yet make similar salary and bonus. How can managers get away with this? Will calling HR really help?

Yes, the guy who calls people "sparky" all the time is annoying. He latches on to a word or name and goes through a season of repeating it over and over again. Not only that, he seems to live out his life on this boards he makes up about 80% of the total posts. What a way to waste your life.

It is absolutely a brilliant idea used by us after the merger [ the SKB butt kickers ] to leave samples in the car. It makes the day go faster when working with a manager......our explanation and it worked = it keeps out a competitor rep longer, saying hang on and I'll be right back with your samples and please wait on calling the next rep back......also, it gives us a GREAT opportunity to go back in a large clinic and hopefully lollygag a bit more with samples, hopefully catching more docs in the hall.

    Smart play, not stupid Sparky.

More like the the SmithKline A$$ Lickers. SKB has given us a toxin that we cannot get rid of. They will do anything for a sale. Even if it cost the company money or worse, costs a patient their lives. Example #1. Every heard of "voucher corruption". They convince physicians and pharmacies to run vouchers. Company makes $0 but reps product market share is falsely inflated. Seen it done and it continues to be done by SKB legacy reps. Just look in 2.0 of any SKB rep and the percentage of vouchers redeemed vs payer use. It's all there if you care to look. Example #2. Remember Paxil and teenage suicidal ideation? Reps denied and downplayed that. Cost the company hundreds of millions. I could go on. SKB horrible management, horrible reps, and horrific corporate culture!

Translation for those outside of Pharma......I have to make my day longer and try to create an excuse as to way using delusional ideas.

-If your competitors have wanted drugs, it's irrelevant.
-We lollygag enough as it is.
-Working with manger I agree with. Stall stall stall.

    Yawn.

    "Away in a manger..."

Vesolaya Pravoslavnoye Rozhdestvo. Happy Orthodox Yuletide!

Maybe "away in a manager" is more appropriate.
