Most of us in our prime want to make something of ourselves and use 100% of our potential.......not spend life like a welfare queen.

Sounds like my RAM job at GSK, except I called on 2 accnts. per wk. (rest was home office-not THE home office, MY office in my home.) Flew 1st class from freq. flier miles (not paid by company of course) and got drunk, hit the hotel bar for drinks and a steak, then went to my lunch appt. with my client. Finally at 1-2pm the airport bar and home again. Needed to work out a lot! Thankful for those 3-4 home days when hit the gym every one of those days around 2 pm. Best job in the nation.

Was let go about 5 years ago when JP came over from Lilly, was the best job in the company until he took over. We had tickets to all the major golf events as well as Super Bowls. Left to go work for a Biotech company as a NAM. It's true, we made 1 call a day 3 days a week. We ate and drank at the finest restaurants. Boy do I miss those days.

Do you really think we cared about what lowly reps delivering pizza thought about us? LOL.
We cared about our paychecks, lunches (NOT just dinners) at Ruths Chris (customer preference), flying up front (our own points), eating dinner in very nice Marriott lounges in the nice dark bar having drinks while putting it all on our expense reports and the topper was having a driver take me & pick me up from the airport! There is no job in the world better than being a NAM except starting at QB in the NFL-period! Then, it got twice as good when moved to a very small company that had 6 people in the division! Company car=Volvo??!! I had no other choice of car, but was shocked! (in a great way) Look it up--Eisai Pharma---even reps drove Volvos-(lower model-S40). We had S90's & on pay grade w/Regional Managers. Go ahead and laugh, but do some research b4 making fools of yourselves.

Mmmmmmmm ? Why would anyone jump from a company like GSK to a small unknown Japanese company ?
From what I saw, many of you did not last long.....many forced out and some caught not working..........we know a few of you back counting pills in a pharmacy today.

RAM & NAM jobs in MM are even better. I know firsthand! Hindsight being 20/20, I cannot believe at one time I wanted to be a DM. Sooooo lucky my RAM job was open and I took it. Then we had seasoned DM's wanting in MM! Yes, we made 1-2 account calls a week, but we "set strategy" from our offices in our homes about 4 days a week, and 2-3 hours a day. Looking back, I cannot imagine a better career in the nation in any industry. I spent 15 years in it with GSK and another 4 years after moving to another start up. Retired so young I won't even post it. Go ahead and start the Sparky or liar comments. It just shows jealousy and lack of knowledge.

I made it through 3 mergers and know how we laughed at you and the job. No one liked you and we know what happened and why you had to leave. Back then, you were the original Sparky.

Let's see if you have the guts to answer a simple one. What year (time frame) are you thinking I worked for GSK? (btw-nobody "laughed"--ie- they all wanted in but I was one of two reps who went straight from the field to MM or MC as we called it when we formed the 1st MC Division in pharma history.) You have no clue, and will answer with some childish thing about Sparky. The only Sparky I know of is the character Chevy Chase played. Be bold, and name a year (or guess within 2 yrs) and I will type my full name here. Why would I care? I have been retired for a decade!

ps-what is "no one liked you back then"??? did I care? I dated one of your reps who was with you for 20+ yrs and dated her for 5 yrs. I think "she liked me." hahha. I got promoted twice. The term Sparky was not even invented then. I am nearly 60. The gal I dated is my age and still a rep! She moved to Novo something--disk?? do not even know the name of the company and don't care. Still a rep at her age is hilarious. She SAW my statements (I showed her of course) from Morgan Stanley when I had at that time 2 mill. (yes, I had a big inheritance) I was working to stay busy instead of retiring at 40. No tracking, GPS chips or whatever you youngsters call them etc. I worked my entire career on ave. 3-4 hours/day. What a great life. I DO count my blessings. It was cake. (just a regular lowly BS in business--no MBA) It was a great great ride! Last job was a mere 5 yrs with a very small startup and my broker asked me why I was working and I had to ask myself! I was done that same day I spoke with him. He knew I wasn't going to buy a gigantic boat or plane. (I could now!!) Young punks don't know a thing about investments or money management. You don't get married after one try! You split it once and learn. Then you save like a deamon. Hit cheap bars, meet cheap ladies and have cheap fun!! hahahaha! Come on bro, gimme a time frame. Initials are JM.

he is too young to understand you, but yer funny
How about Johnny MaHolmes. da wad.
Can anyone really tell me a better job in the nation, other than a pro athlete of course, than a RAM or NAM?! No way. My major regret was wasting time in college getting a business degree. I should have majored in Communications, but had no idea how easy it was until I learned later taking an elective with a girlfriend. (total joke major and SKF would have hired me with the 2 managers on the interview--even when jealous-one majored in chemistry and the other had an MBA--wish had the comm. degree and they asked 'why did you major in comm?" answer--"isn't that what sales is about gentlemen?" nailed em......darnit.........studied 3 nights per wk instead of never having to buy a single book if majored in comm........cakewalk.....oh well...still proud of my BSBA from a great school.........Fisher Business School.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that no rep can get into what I was very LUCKY to move to. There were a grand total of TWO OF US in the entire field that went into Managed Care as RAMS. 2! The rest of the 16 people were ex-DM's and Product Mgrs. We were the top 2 reps in the nation in sales, and scored huge! I still have the hard copy company newsletter. Yep --old school! Big salary and more impt. major bonus! The other rep was my roomie in training, then, of course, no more roomies again during our careers. We don't have no stinkin' roomies! Done and retired. He stayed a long time vs my tenure. (he headed up the vaccine division in some area et. al.) I booked. Went to help a small Japanese startup get a division in line and called my broker and got a huge laugh when I asked if I could retire. He said, "You cheapskate, you could have retired 10 years ago!" I did save too much. Now I am worried about how NOT to leave too much to my beneficiary. He is a good man, but jeesh. (the millions are out of line.) I can prove it if you know me and call. My ex just left your company and knows what my assets were in 2002. (sev. mill then-much more now.)
