Lol! So true. 'Support' (or service for that matter) and CAH are an oxymoron. I spend way too much time fixing our screwed up shipments. By on the other hand, the shipments often don't show up. What a disaster this company has become.

Don't shit on the Pharma reps(I've never been one) I know many of them who double our income easily.

Does anyone know anything about H.D. Smith? What the culture is like?

H.D. is not to hot either. A lot of former Cardinal middle management and reps. From what I have read on these boards regarding Cardinal then the same can pretty much be said for H.D.

    Unrealistic quotas
No real support for sales team
There are pockets of good teams with great leads and management but lacking or at best poor support and resources from corporate. If you need a job go work there if you have options H.D. Smith is mediocre at best. I am referring to sales positions not for other departments but from my experience it's a company culture at H.D. not unique to one particular department.

There is a medical surgical sales consultant opening in the New York City area. Can anyone tell me anything about this territory, why is it open, and do I want to work for the Manager? What happened to the former rep? I am an intern with Cardinal looking to get into field sales. Honest feedback please would be really appreciated.

If you're an intern, why are you posting here about a field sales job. Take the fucking job. You're an intern. Jesus Christ.

There is at least one manager in the NE that is a consensus mega A-Hole. I just want to make sure I wouldn't be jumping from the frying pan into the furnace if the manager is who I think he/she is.. More scum bags in my life I don't need.

Look up the other reps in the area and call them. Start asking questions.

This old post is still relevant. Yes, a horrible place to work as leadership sucks, especially how they view the sales force which is with contempt. I just departed and enjoying life again with a position with a competitor. Happy Thanksgiving INDEED!

I am applying for an open medical sales position in NYC area. I know the details of the job, salary, etc, but need any info out there about the manager who is Matt McLeod or McCloud. Can anyone give me some background on this person? I'm looking for a leader to work for, not an A-Hole. Any honest feedback appreciated.

I can't speak for him. But I will tell you from experience this company is run by A-holes. If you do decide to proceed, good luck. Many are getting laid off this month due to severely poor decisions from the CEO.

Who else is getting laid off? I thought we were done with layoffs.

The job isn't hard. You hustle you may make your number. It's all other stuff you have to deal with that makes it difficult and time consuming. Most of the boulders in your way will be put there by Cardinal. I often am left wondering, I don't get paid enough to deal with this. The pay is total shiite. Don't expect to come and make money, but if you need a job, it's not a bad place to be

I've been here almost 9 years and seen a lot of changes in my time. Casey's chart a few years ago at the NSM summed it up about distribution numbers going down the tubes fast. There is no money left to be made in distribution and it forced George & Don to diversify into other areas like Cordis, Orthopedics, ITI. How did those business units pan out? Cordis was a dying product for J&J so of course CAH acquired it. Over 85% of the Cordis sales/mgmt team left on their own or were pushed out in the reorg. Orthopedics was another mistake. I think CAH was in way over their head with these products and could never get their feet on the ground because the products consistently failed and weren't on any of the GPO's. ITI was yet another attempt to get into a segment of the market that is very relationship driven and CAH made no effort to bring on any consultants and thought they could sell it on price alone. All-in-all, the future looks very bleak and puts CAH in a position of minimal growth. My opinion is they will drop a few notches in the Fortune list next year. Their only saving grace is what they lost in profit margins will be made up in revenue from other shitty acquisitions and the sheer fact their really aren't any other company doing $110 BILLION a year and that's the only number Fortune looks at when compiling their list.

On point comments on dire Med Seg segment strategy and results. Left CAH, sold stock and invested in outfits that drive earnings....revenue without earnings growth is CAH story. ( or earnings decline). Now Pharma under similar pressure with dicey ethics issues too. Sad...as Trump would say....and I detest him, but it is accurate.

Pitiful earnings story with expensive acquisitions, falling prices w customers and volume issues. Stock price below level 3+ years ago. Somebody has made the judgement on business being in decline with little hope.

What a somber vision of Cardinal. And yet, spot on. All of the crap acquired up to Medtronic deal has proven to be a waste of our assets. I mean Cardinal's assets, as I just retired (thrilled to gone as this company reminds me of a dumpster fire in Herman Gardens--which I left long ago). First batch of Medtronic related lay-offs goes into effect this Friday with more to come. And those laid-off tend to be older with a few youngsters sacrificed to make the RIFs look kosher. So Cardinal buys all of Medtronic's me-too garbage and more of you will be ash canned. Criminal
