Anyone have a surgeon using with positive comments? Seems like a good idea to mix and match poly to achieve better balance knees.

Seems like the language, "first customizable knee with separate polys" is untrue, with ConforMIS doing it for years. Just helps strengthen their point.

Appears that they had excess inventory lying around due to the failure of the XP and repurposed for conventional Vanguards. Not a bad idea as Conformis has paved that road already. Time will tell.

Even though ConforMIS paved the way with two polys, the Vanguard is crap, and 4 poly inserts wouldn't make it half as good.

Let's see...20 year old design with a dozen sizes, or a completely patient specific anatomically matched knee custom built for only one knee using the latest imaging and 3D printing technology...hmmm. Last car I bought wasn't from 1996. Did they even have keyless entry or air bags then?
I'm no expert, but I also don't live in the past. Time to look to the future, and symmetric components with separate polys isn't it.

    They had airbags in 1996.

Yep...and everything that is the "latest and greatest" in orthopedic implants works out great! You are a genius! Keep knocking what has been the gold standard...see where it gets you junior!

Maybe check out the Confirmis complaints for their total knees on the MAUDE database?

Buechel was using different bearing heights in the LCS knee in 1977

yeah, you are right. Not everything new is revolutionary...remember Durom? But Vanguard with separate polys at 2mm is not revolutionary either. Now, I have to get back into my 96 Tercel with crank Windows and lap belts. It gets 15 mpg and goes 0-60 in 9 seconds. But why look at the newer cars? I'm sure they catch fire while in park, and the GPS units lead you off a bridge into the ocean.

Stick with opening boxes gramps. You wouldn't know how to talk to a doctor about new technology anyway.

For the LCS guy...no shit! The AGC also had in between femoral sizes before "gender specific"..also the LCS and AGC had higher survivorship rates than any other! Be a douche if you want but your company is in the same nightmare that we are now!

I have been in ortho for 15 years, and NEVER have I seen a doc in my territory switch to Z for anything! They come in trained, and with blue Z tattoos, and the reps think they're heroes. True box openers...not "All Stars" like they want us all to believe.

couldnt agree more. Zimmer did a tremendous job controlling educational facilities for years but that is changing. With the ZB merger I was more concerned about the bag my local biomet rep was getting and how long it would talk to replace the useless zimmer reps.
