Stryker rep here: I love how almost every company on this board has countless reps bitching about how bad their job is; if you look at the stryker board there are very few if any threads from stryker reps saying how bad their jobs are. You know why that is? Cause we dont bitch about stuff we get stuff done and make money. I am not trying to sound cocky but I am tired of grumpy reps from other companies bashing us because they hate their own jobs. If you hate your job quit and make something happen. Every other Stryker rep I have met is just a regular dude that know how to grind things out and make stuff happen, I know their are dickhead stryker reps but there are dickhead medical reps everywhere, I see them everyday.

I dont think stryker reps are tools yet you will get some. You will get some idiots who think they are the business yet they sell a product where they dont have competition......they are order takers at best. The toughest gig is by far endo at stryker.

When you join stryker and you are struggling with the culture and conflict dont take it as personal failure...you just dont fit and if you can be mature enough to realise that sooner you will do yourself wonders....just move on!
Stryker wants a culture and they are not ashamed of it...they will churn and burn! Plenty people have been burned because they struggled to fit in and stayed on too long! If you know your time is move on and leave stryker at stryker....its a unique place. You make really good money and if you dont make your number be sure to have plan B....its that ruthless!

You do get knuckle heads going about how good they are but really there have been many times of good fortune. Stryker prides itself on delivering great products. Anyone taking instruments is on to a winner...you dont sell YOU TAKE ORDERS! I dont care how much people think they can sell...instruments is the role of roles!

If you are in endo at the beginning of the year get your business plan done and in the same breath have an exit strategy because sure as nuts grow in the ground you could get a dry spell and its curtains. But when customers are in their buying cycle its a gold rush.

My advise to any prospective stryker rep or current rep struggling its an amazing place when you are making money but know when to cal it quits if things are not happening. Dont ever leave disgruntled otherwise you will eat yourself up from the inside out...its not worth it!

I have read many stryker hater contris here...its not worth the gripe! Let me tell you stryker dont care...they are too selfish to care and they wont lose sleep.

If you are a prospective endo rep or trauma/ortho find how the territory is doing. Phone theatre managers ask them for the previous stryker reps number...somebody will have it. Call stryker and ask to be put forward to an endo rep in an adjacent territory...they will tell you what the territory is doing.....if the previous rep had the gold rush my advise is call back at stryker in three years....if you join your first 18 months will be just supporting and very little selling with you having to grow 20% on the previous reps last years sales. No sales means your job will be short term.

I was at stryker at 3 years and really enjoyed it but i knew when it was time to move on. I had idiots tell me how great they are but their protfolio was damn easy...order takers! They would not survive outside stryker...but wait when they get credible competitors! Stryker are starting to face some heat outside the US from competition and our arrogance is starting to hurt the stryker business.

Okay very long but i gave some insight to stryker.

Ok, so I've breezed through some of these posts and can't help but to post a comment. Amazes me how many people hate Stryker, and want to slander the company...

I just joined this company earlier this year and I'm 33 (not 22) and yes I was a college athlete and yes I had a 3.2GPA in college. So what?

All I can say is that I'm the happiest I've ever been working and I don't give a rip about what any one else says.

In fact, if half you guys put as much time into your job as you do into posting about all of us Stryker "tools" - you might even hit your number!

Lets be real honest here. Stryker has adopted a hiring model of Survival of the Fittest. Yes- the sales reps are typically jacked, good looking, all-american types with a commanding presence. The females are typically beautiful and charismatic. Sure, there are some exceptions but this makes up the majority of the Stryker sales force. In actuality, it's pretty smart. People want to deal with these types of people who can handle a surgeons ego without being scared off or timid in the OR. Any haters here are being insecure. You don't have to work for Stryker, that's a choice. And if you have any self-doubt, work to your strengths and abilities best you can. Thats life.

I worked for Stryker for 4 years. The culture is terrible and you won't understand until you finally get out. You can be the best rep in the country but it's still not good enough. I led my division and my team consecutively but it was never good enough. Management stresses the importance of work life balance. Bull shit. In 4 years I took 10 days off. Its a churn and burn environment. Now, im with a larger company, making more money, being appreciated and plan to be here for a long time. Take the job at stryker to get it on your resume then leave. Don't stick around long. It will make you hate the industry if you do. And No, I wasn't a disgruntled employee that couldn't hack it. I kicked ass at Stryker but I hated everyday of it.

Firebrands are taking over the Stryker sales force. We are transforming people into no limit dog soldier war hero poets. Tupac mixed with Putin and Margaret Thatcher is the type of animal we are looking for. We will be replacing the old school one by one. Stay Tuned, we are coming to an OR near you soon!!

The Firebrands did take over but I'm not sure it's a good thing. Look what happened when they took over at Zoll
