agreed with the above statement. Management for the most part rules by fear here. You can't expect people to like their jobs with that sort of management style.
Dr. Markabi was asked about this in the R&D meeting and he acted surprised that Alcon fell of the list. Are you kidding me? Everyone is terrified that they are going to lose their job. He has made it clear that you are expected to work 10 times harder and to not even expect a good review. Our 401k was what propelled Alcon to the Fortune 100 list and surely that will be one of the first things that Novartis takes away from us. I used to be proud to work for Alcon. Not anymore.
Another reason to hate Alcon/Novartis. They are short changing many of their own employees who are stock holders in the take over. They just plain don't give a shit about employees anymore. Ruling with fear and intimidation does not work. Too bad there's not a magazine that lists the places that used to be great.
You would think that if you work for a company such as Novartis for years, that when you get laid off, they would take better care of you by offering you a decent severance package. But they don't, they give you 16 weeks pay, everything else is taken away. Even your insurance. You have to pay for COBRA. I guess you're just a number to them.
we can still make it to top 100 guys !!! Just change the survey to the worst comoanies to work for and we will be in top 10
