it's a fuckin joke. NBS IT gets 110% bpf and delivers nothing, they are a third party supplier that doesn't know it. They think The manufacturing sites exist to support them. They don't understand the simplest of concepts like, chargeback models and P&L statements. Very badsitution that's only going to get worse.

NBS management so talented? If so give them a 2 year simile contract then have them compete for the services they provide with others on the open market. Actual P&L. Will be funny to watch them panic.

sooo right!! It's such a joke! The charge an arm and a leg for services, which they either don't provide or provide without quality! The IT services are f up, finance a joke, compliance even more a joke!! They lose key people at the FSCs, including heads.

They will have to shrink the nbs empire eventually if the divisions want to be profitable.

In May NBS formed another group on the East Hanover campus called "PLS" for analytic work like market research, forecasting, sales operations and business analytics, as well as clinical departments within OGD. These include many advanced degree positions including doctoral level Novartians. Meetings and conventions went too. Even set up a separate oncology sub group. Moved employees from Onco and Gen Meds to this company. No physical move. Same desks, etc. Andy Weiss says we will save 1 billion.

Why? Cause of repeated crappy and plain erroneous work from our India NBS hub. Dept. managers were reluctant to outsource tasks there. Also the time zone problem.

Strange part: No cost savings: even more or same layers of management! They serve it up as "nothing changes" to the employees and customers effected. Compensation rating now based on customer satisfaction not company performance. So where are the cost savings of 1 billion if nothing changes?

I know folks in PLS have left and are not being replaced. Budgets are being cut now. Jan 1st PLS or NBS becomes a separate legal entity. Which means everything from compensation to benefits can be changed. Prediction is management layers will be stripped away, maybe layoffs and shifts to the new hub in Mexico over time (same time zone). Perhaps then do what Jack Welch did at GE with his NBS and spin off the company. Thus, a Slow change over to offshoring instead of the disappointment / shove it down your throat that was Hyderbaad.

One thing is certain: quality will decrease. Productivity will decline. Cost savings will be countered by worse product launches and poorly informed brand management. Wall st. Will be happy which is a JJ cares about anyway.

    The cynic strikes back!

Makes you wonder why Andy never shares the "raw data" when congratulating NBS on another "well done" quarter. Much of what is written is simply made up, but that is reality. And most people do care about maintaining a reputation for something and money to survive and thrive. The problem is defining the point at which enough equals enough.

there is no real data. It's all make believe, based on allocations that are outdated because of the speed the company is changing. Just like there is no quality in anything nbs does....because there is no ownership

NBS is a big scam and NVS using it to funnel money back avoiding local taxes in countries by boosting NBS cross charge.

couple of countries have started inquiries. Wait and watch for another Big NVS Tax evation scam

The transfer pricing game has been going on for years long before NBS.

Nothing new, legal, and difficult to prove abuse of the system: http://www.taxjustice.net/topics/corporate-tax/transfer-pricing/

Outside (vendor) view - Novartis is in deep shit. Culture has gone down the drain, backstabbing your colleagues, zero ownership. It used to be fun working with you. Now you have gotten REALLY good in asking for software and services for free. In the beginning you were still embarrassed, now it has become second nature. Actually sad to see, like I said, it was fun working with you guys and we got stuff done.
