The only thing thats expandig is Ians ego. For such a little shit, he has a big ego, but thats the way little turds compensate gor their stature.
    Our days are numbered.

Especially if you are in your 50's; you are too old to be a pharmaceutical rep. Days of retiring in 60's is long gone unless you are in a very unique area of the country.

My manager said that we should expect a big announcement by the end of the quarter. She's normally pretty negative, but she was excited when she told me. I think its a big acquisition, which ALWAYS means expansion for legacy Pfizer.

Once again, we will be THE spot to be in Big Pharma!!

Word from two headhunters now is that Pfizer is actively seeking experienced managers.
    Something big is afoot!

Not to downgrade the possibility of downsizing, but if Pfizer doesn't come up with a viable company to buy either through a friendly buyout or else a hostile take over then the chances of cutbacks are a genuine issue. We don't have anything major in our pipeline that is due to hit anytime soon enough to save us when our last biggie products go off patent in the in the not too distant future. Gloom & doom, take it anyway you choose to.

Oh, Yeah, headhunters are really in the know. If is true, about time, the idiots we have now are terrible.

This is true. Headhunters are only out for themselves to get their finders fee ($). However my DM says I don't really have to worry as our jobs are fairly secure for the next few years anyway. At least a DM gets his inside info from upper level people in the know at Pfizer.

Wouldn't count on it, and wouldn't trust a manager. They tell you what they are told to tell you to maintain morale. Don't want us worrying or looking.
Watch out for yourself, you are the only that is. sad, but trust no one.

Just stay prepared. Get a big tube of KY and be ready, it's coming, and when it does it won't be gentle.

Downsizing are happening to everyone I know in their 50's plus. Pharma companies and others; it seems like everyone is trimming, outsourcing, contracting out, etc.

What a bunch of little bitches... Everyone knows V goes bye bye late 2017, but the reps selling that are either tied to the Eliquis contract with BMS (requiring a set level of promotion) or Lyrica, which the company will need to bleed dry until Dec 2018 (meaning no decrease in promotion until then).

THAT'S 2 AND A HALF FREAKIN' YEARS PEOPLE... That's an eternity in this business. PFE may strike gold with a new launch or acquisition, or continue to grow oncology and vaccines. It's not like there won't be revenue or opportunities. If you can't come up with a plan in 2.5 years, you are probably too stupid and/or lazy to be retained and should just hit the road now.

Calm down and do your damn job.

OK, Ian. I believe every word you say. You are right, though. 2 yrs is a long career in pharma. It's still the best part time job anyone could have.

    my gosh you are stupid.
2 years is not that far away and the fact is that PFE hasn't come out with anything in the past 10 years worth anything. the future is bleak for Primary Care reps. and out of curiosity what in the hell are reps & DMs qualified for beyond what they are currently doing? have seen more of them selling houses, insurance, cars, etc than getting a job outside of sales. keep telling yourself that you mean something to the medical community when those vacant territories continue to perform well and are collapsed since they were not needed anymore.

You are so right. In fact Pfizer has historically stopped promoting their products that are about to go off patent approximately 6-8 months before it goes generic. They figure if a doctor hasn't started writing this product by then that no amount of rep promotion is going to get these docs to come on board at the last minute of a products life. So if this trend holds true then we will probably stop promoting V by early next year & Lyrica by spring of 2018 most likely. Time is very short for Pfizer to come up with something or a plan to save our jobs.
