Now that the oncology division has a salary cap of $170,000 - Do you think that is discrimination for the rest of the sales force since our S 2 group has a salary cap of $127,000. We have a similar job role and responsibility! I guess it will be just another discrimination lawsuit for MERCK.

  3. When I brought this salary disparity between the oncology division and the rest of sales force to my manager he just said that they have different jobs roles? Aren't we all in SALES? Question? Who is brave enough to bring yet another discrimination lawsuit to Merck? I find it hard to believe that a DOW company is just so discriminative! MERCK = DISCRIMINATION

Good point, especially those who were S3's for countless years then demoted to S2. Count me in! Back pay and future earnings to boot.

so when they capped the salary at 127,000 if you were making 135,000..what happened?

You get the difference in a separate check! However, only the 127k is credited towards your pension, you are capped. So an oncology rep making day 157k gets 30k more annually towards pension. How you like them apples? This place is so effed up!

Who cares, pay em high for 2-3 years. They are overhiring and will downsize in a few short years. Hey, it is the Merck way. I know many of the OSR' s, here is their day:

    Drive around
    Drop off literature
    Drive around
    See a nurse or two
    Rarely see a doctor
    Drive around some more

    Repeat

The OSR job is more like this:
    Exercise
Think about an account, mark veeva calls
Send email request for meeting with product name
    Mark more veeva calls
Plan for the 1 RFM you may have that week if u are lucky
    Mark call
Think about ONS MMF in 2 months, mark call on a bunch of nurses
Fill in it some type of admin spreadsheet and send to CTL
    Busy day. Must rest tomorrow

It's not discrimination it's just how the company values its oncology sales team.

Why does the starting quarterback make 18 million a year while the back up left guard makes 650 thousand in the NFL.

It's about the value of the position and what the market demands. If you're unhappy , get off your ass and move to oncology

We don't want the lazy PC crowd in our elite group. We hire from the outside.
