Why do you think the demographic with the highest unemployment rate is over 50? Age discrimination has become one of, if not the, hardest discrimination to win in court. You need a "smoking gun", ideally in writing. Like a memo to HR from senior management directing then to target over 50.

And even that's not enough. The evidence has to show discrimination to people over 50 in a derogatory fashion, like "let's use this as opportunity to get rid of as many as we can over 50 because at that age they start to get senile, and Abbott does not want to have employees that look and act old representing the company because everybody knows old people are not as sharp and have grown lazy."

    Good luck.

Finally an opposing view that is not riddled in childish insults, is respectful, to the point of the issue at hand and for that I thank you.

I fully understand the uphill battle I face against a giant like Abbott. I understand I'm up against an army of attorneys and assistants in the legal department that I have personally supported many times throughout 15 years of my life. Nevertheless I'm not one to cower out from a fight to challenge what I see as an injustice. I cannot discuss evidence or legal strategy but because I'm disadvantaged should be no excuse to not pose at least some what of a challenge. As an American I would rather die trying then live like a coward. America taught me that in many lessons throughout our history. Doing nothing about it now guarantees it will happen again later. Nothing ever changes when nothing is done about it. If a smoking gun does exist theres always a good chance that someone with a good conscience turns it in but I'm not relying on something like that. They are not dumb enough to create that type of incriminating evidence. Even if I lose but I inspire at least one person to standup against injustice that alone is worthwhile for me. Time to enjoy the weekend and I hope you enjoy yours as well.

    All the best,

Well, now if that's your motive, then perhaps you will win in the end, in a fashion: you'll at least have the personal satisfaction of knowing you tried to do something. Not being sarcastic here. One of the most important things in life is the peace of mind of being able to look back and know you did the right thing, or gave it your best, even if the outcome was not winning. I believe doing what we believe is right, even when it seems that no one else will stand with you, can sometimes have the effect of a puff of wind in the center of the south Pacific ultimately ends up as a hurricane weeks later. Even if they don't acknowledge it, some people will notice what you're did, and someday might have the courage to make their own stand. Eventually, someday, enough people will have the courage to stand together and win.

It's bullshit. Did some of my best work after 50. But once you hit 60....different story. At that point the 401k is full, house is paid off, kids out of college. Screw work..time to play.
