i realize it's purely hypothetical and has no real chance of happening but it would be a great move. Consolidate the space and leave 2 huge companies to drive the industry.

Will never happen without divesting divisions or product lines to avoid govt objections related to fair competition.

WallStreet does not understand. The game is up. Nobody wants these robots. Nobody can afford them. JNJ won't buy Stryker. Trauma, Joints, Spine? JNJ has it all. And they have everything SYK does besides robots, which as stated before is not doing well. Maybe 10 or 15 years ago but not today. Also, Anti trusts laws wouldn't allow this merger from happening. Never in a million years. Strykrr, Howmedica. Osteonics, Mitek, Synthes, Depuy all under one company? Give me a break. Cramer is an idiot. Payed to talk

Interesting how rumors of Smith & Nephew are always true. Us being bought is just a BS rumor. You never know but you're probably right. Robots are never going to make it with these price pressures.

Interesting how now that Styker is the acquisition rumor it can't happen. What everyone needs to realize is that Jnj has enough money to buy anyone.,Gorsky is not going to have any business that is not at least number 2 in its category. Which he does not have now in orthopedic. However, typical of allf of JNJ arrogance they will have belief that because the are JNJ you should do business with them. I am an ex depuy rep to be honest. If they could ever get their stuff together they could blow everyone out of the water. JnJ has been trying to do that for last 20 years, just can't get it together. Proble is no one trusts them now

They are #2 now. So what's your point. Cramer likes to talk. Someone will buy smith and nephew before Stryker is acquired.

Gotta think Medtronic will be looking to get into the orthopedic space at some point.

Current Synthes guy here. This is the biggest talk I think we have around here. We poop money and if we consolidated across all companies under the JNJ umbrella we could literally walk into the top hospital accounts nationally and walk out in a few hours with an exclusive rights deal for 90% of what goes on in that building. I guess we don't have enough Wharton/West Point nerds running around yelling SYNERGY loud enough at HQ.

Worked for JNJ orthopedic 25 years ago before Depuy merger and they tried to do this back then. I agree they should be able to blow everyone out of the water. Same old problem now as then. JNJ believes everyone should want to do business with them because of who they are. They need to get off their corporate arrogance and act like a small company that needs the business. If that ever occurred I think I would be nervous I left when Depuy merger occured
