Hey guys, I'm considering coming over from a radiology sales position and taking a slight relocation to cover a territory in northern New Jersey in the NSE division. I've done the leg work and contacted other reps, but I would love to see if anyone on here any insight on the division and the territory?
Can't speak to the territory, but the NSE bag is pretty good one. You'll be spending most of your time pushing the Sonopet, which crushes the Cusa, and drills, where you'll compete against Medtronic and Midas. Stryker was strategic in acquiring the Sonopet. Integra had been sitting on it's butt with no competition for a long time. Sonopet has crushed the Cusa. Drills are tougher. The drill landscape has been commoditized and so many agreements are done at the IDN level now. Medtronic has long been the gold standard in neuro drills but Stryker has definitely gained market share and has a very good new electric drill out. Other ancillary products fill out the bag but the Sonopet and drill game are the big ones.
Great, thank you for the feedback. The bag itself in NSE looks great. My main concern is the reason the territory has been open for so long. I have heard from other employees that it is a territory carved out of another mans territory who was covering it as a CMF and an NSE rep. I have also heard there is a man from MDT who owns the relationships in the territory, but I am inclined to believe that was an interview scare tactic. Anywho, more info appreciated.
An established MDT rep will definitely have relationships but the drill game is less about relationships these days and more about price and contracts. Contracting is one thing that Stryker does much better than MDT. The other component of the bag is ENT and I'm not sure how Stryker does there. But Medtronic has typically dominated ENT and has superior products to just about anyone out there.
