Maybe things will get better without dragging around the extra weight of these do-nothing no-nothing DMs

Many more will be gone soon along with reps.....the rent-a-rep chapter begins soon.

Net year will bring another re-org. Tanzeum will be sold, consumer will be sold and one selling face will be severed. After that, we will buy another company. It's already being discussed with top shareholders and the BOD. Not many will lose their jobs so you can stop with the "it's gonna be a blood bath", because it's not. But that is the direction the new CEO will take. You heard it hear first...the crystal ball has spoken.

These are very much uncharted waters Gsk is entering. With the track record of cuts for much less, I think it's fair to not have a positive outlook. I don't think it's a overreaction at all.

I hate to say it, but GSK did not downsize enough managers. At the maximum district capacity, managers will still be working with reps far too often. Worse, they will be going into physician offices just as often as their reps. I really cannot understand how GSK thinks that this is a good thing? Really demonstrates just how disconnected upper, middle and field management are. Those managers who have to go back into the field will soon be reminded of this. Welcome to the jungle baby! And for those managers who stay in place, don't feel too smug. Layoffs are coming next year again!

Post too long. DM's and reps shrinking soon. Rent-a-reps coming.

Managers span of control should be 12-14 reps. Numbers speak for themselves and it's all that matters. Selling skills equate to numbers so leave the good reps along and focus on the dead weight instead of bringing down everyone. My team lost 3 reps to the competition in 3 months. Flawed selling model is making everyone miserable because the micro-management is out of hand. We are adults, treat us like adults. Empower us, don't degrade us.

The DM have become a joke of the industry. Reputation for checking boxes, awkwardly jumping in during calls, fake coaching, route disruptions, and the overlap of dms from all of our teams. Some docs are seeing 4 dms!!!! They don't understand.

12-14 isn't a enough for this sh*tshow. 5 can be good for a SMART organization if you wanted to. You don't need Pharma managers in the field more than once a quarter. It's awkward selling these days as it is without someone looking over your shoulder.

To the last post...AMEN! When will this company get it? Reps only need to work with a magnet once per quarter. Management has such an inflated view of their role.

Just when has this co ever gotten it??? Think of what's correct/right and do the exact opposite! Yes, we are George Costanza!!!

They don't get it, this is Pharma 2016. Offices have tight access, managed care is Almost the decider, docs have limited time, we have to balance things to get into offices, and this is a Sales job, not a metric job.

You wanna hear some things about ride alongs from my experience?

-I've had to start days late due to ride alongs

-I've fought with matrix partners to call on offices they wanted to use for their ride along.

-I've had to uncomfortably pressure docs who had their own plan of adoption.

I've had to reroute my planned days to accommodate them.

-I've been questioned on my routing going to a outlying clinic even though my hcp was using 4-10 scripts a week!

-My calls lasted 3x longer due to them sitting in the care micromanage questioning me.

-my sales pitch was thrown off almost every ride along with them interjecting.

-My dm rushes off to their kids and wife after throwing my day off.

By far the worst set of dms I've been apart of.

What else do managers have to do? They are the biggest waste of time and money in this shitty business.
Many think they're going to enter the C- suite someday, but that ain't going to happen.
Ratio should be 20 reps to each manager. Ride along schedule, new rep twice a mo the for first 4-6 mos depending on development. Then once a mo for rest of year. Years 1-2, every 6-8 wks. 3 and on once a quarter. If a rep hasn't learned it by then, terminate.
Play golf, family time, side business, just leave good reps to do their jobs and keep busy doing meaningless busy work like analyzing metrics.
Rule of thumb is if a rep needs babysitting, something is wrong with the rep or manager, sometimes both.

There isn't a reality here, I can speak for my district and rvp experiences that it became a dog and pony show.

I literally tell people how much I have to FAKE things in order to go with the flow.

-Calls per day is a joke, there average is what it is. Not rocket science.

-Pulling data is great for new scripts, doesn't help otherwise. Knowing my top 20 doctors works great if it's my first week of work. Other than that I'm balancing my territory.

-The calls contradict the call average since they are live meeting most times. You literally have to make ish up to sound engaged.

-How many times do we have the differentiate __ drug? Way too much.

-Oh yes, can I explain my territory anymore to my DM? I can give a list of no see, certain day, diff policies etc and they still act like I speak to them in Russian.

-Precall plans, where do I start? My matrix partners all say the same sh*t and I have to make it sound different. It's awkward enough over calling these ppl without asking phony questions.

-Oh the detailed pulling of insurance plans. Yes Doctor, I know you will remember this payer ish for this specific plan, for a specific disease state in your overly busy day that you will for sure remember. Because you really don't go with the least problem prescription.

-Dm let me bullsh*t the data for you. I really care if 1. They see me 2. They prescribe over 0 a week. 3. There is a 1% chance they will use. But I'll make it sound like the dumb sh*t you want to hear. Because that's what really matters, metrics first.

Hey asshole, my dm sends out grammar errors too! Who gives a flying f in the age of autocorrect?!!

If that was my only issue, I'd be happy!

Sad man you are though, you defend this shit company with awful comebacks. No one even acknowledges your responses typically.

"PR Boy" is alive and well. He/she/it must be happy now that the minimum wage is going up.
