After driving my 1998 Mercury Mystique for 10 years now since high school, I finally landed a $60k job as an ASR after an extensive interview process and have decided to get a car that more adequately matches my new income level. I'm thinking model year 2012 or 2013, and I'm looking at either an Audi A4 or 3 Series BMW.

The Audi is slightly better in terms of appearance, and the BMW I did a test drive for is more fun behind the wheel. Both cars are obvious improvement over the American cars in these categories.

To the high income individuals here who drive Audi's and BMW's.....which is a better brand at the entry level? As someone who plans on getting a new car every 2-3 years now, which brand would be better to "hitch my wagon" to from now into the future?

Also, will these provide adequate cargo space for my job? Very excited to be in medical device guys!

You're joking right. A measly 60k does not warrant an Audi or bmw buddy. However, if you were my competitor,I would certainly point out to the docs that you do in fact drive that.
You are going to fit right in with this sinking ship of a company.

$60K is not enough to warrant that kind of vehicle. Maintenance will hurt your wallet when it comes. You need an affordable vehicle with adequate cargo space. Check AutoTrader for used El Caminos!

Never drive a nicer car than potentially your customers. Been in this field for 20+ years and I have never been seen in anything more than a Ford or Dodge.

...thus the El Camino suggestion! Ha!

I'm assuming this is a joke made in reference to all the reps who get into this field and do stuff like that but if not, don't do that. Even if you were the senior rep making 2-3 times more than that, don't buy one of those. People already think reps make too much because of DBags who are flashy. Don't wear nice watches, drive a flashy or high end vehicle, or talk about how much you make off a case. You are an Associate at a bottom feeder company. Buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee, do your time, and move on to a better company.

    That's so offensive...to bottom feeders!

I can't believe this is an actual thread. You have to question your life choices if you 1. Think you're a big deal for being an ASR, 2. Make $60k (probably gross) and think that's enough to afford an Audi or BMW, and 3. Are actually seeking car-buying advice on cafepharma.

fuck all you haters! Certified Audi is the way to go. Grab a 2012 A7 and rock out with your cock out!

It would still be tight, but an A7 might be a little easier to live in than an A4. I'll give you that.

So what kind of car was finally chosen?

Due to a couple of collections my credit only allowed a pre-owned 1983 Datsun. Thanks for all of the input though guys.
