It is all about the financials. We are all just numbers at AZ and the most important number is the cost of your salary and benefits. If they tell you they love you and that you are indispensable, that is all a total lie. They are going to cut and cut deep and a lot of people will be shocked when the phone call comes that their services are no longer needed. Many loyal employees who sacrificed for this company through the tough times some with more than 25 years of service are going to get cut like a hot knife thru warm butter. Expect it when you least expect it because they will lie to you right up until the very end. Our managers don't even know because they are on the cut list too.

This is close to the rumors we are hearing in the home office. They started cutting people with this profile 3 years ago and keep eliminating them a few at a time. We were all shocked because several of them seemed to be very highly regarded and then suddenly they were gone.

if the results are bad Thoper will be a thing of the past. He will be the first to go. Then we will know because it always flows down hill.

You're right. Managers were not informed. ITLT -1 is who knew and no one below. Directors and Managers were told their teams were decimated at the same time employees were given the boot. And they aren't waiting around. Some were told out asap and no later than end q2

When Schering was bought out and most of us lost our jobs, nobody had a clue it was going to happen. Hell, they has just hired two new people for my District and my manager was interviewing for a position in corporate.

At a national meeting I remember Fred Hassan telling everyone that he had no plans to sell Schering to Merck. At the same time they dangled stock options in an effort to keep people from leaving. I was gone before the merger happened, but nearly all my former colleagues we're let go.

    Welcome to Friday news:

"Chief Executive Pascal Soriot said on Friday he would sharpen the prioritisation of investments and increase spending in oncology while cutting commercial and manufacturing operations.

The result would be a "material decline" in spending on commercial activities this year and next, with net annualised savings of $1.1 billion by the end of 2017. The changes will involve a $1.5 billion one-off restructuring charge.

There will be job losses, reflecting the fact that specialist cancer drugs require smaller sales forces than ones sold to general practitioners. AstraZeneca declined to give numbers but said most of the job cuts would be outside Britain."

my gas card was declined this morning. Does that mean I'm laid off?

And the sad part is, it will probably happen in waves. Earlier this week the Novartis CEO said it is all about formulary coverage & that the SoV model is dying on the vine (yet our leaders from GSK go back to it at every crisis).

What do you think is going to happen to PCP team when Advair generic hits the US market?

"Mr. Soriot said the company would spend the next two years reducing its sales staff while re-directing some of the savings..." ....into his own pocket.
    Prick.
