clearly, and I mean clearly, the only thing he knows how to do is get in the car and ride with someone. My 9 yr old can do that. Get those points for your Disney vacation my friend, cause your time for honoring yourself will soon be at an end.

I you work for Lundbeck then you would have heard the story at the NSM

Glover: Please stop with the multiple day ride alongs for your managers. The ASM's have a ridiculously low number of people to manage. They are in our cars monthly and with 2 day ride alongs, they will see our customers more than I do. Are you trying to get offices to shut their doors to reps?

Glover- the reason for all the changes. Thanks so much for brining big pharma here!

If we were new to pharma and needed hand holding, I would understand the reason for being with me monthly. But my ASM (who is a great guy) is with me and my teammates far too much. It is affecting my routing and my morale. The ASMs need more people to manage if they are to be in the field this much.

    Think about this:
Glover has only been here about 6 months. However, he has so screwed things up that he has his own thread on CafePharma with over 85 posts and approaching 8000 views. Congrats Glover!

I had far fewer ride-a-longs with my previous Big Pharma DM, than what we are now experiencing with Lundbeck. This micromanagement will backfire, I promise you, I actually had a doc ask me off something was wrong because he has seen him twice in just a few weeks, with me and the gamma rep. My goal is to be gone before the end of the year. The real question to ask is why this sudden change to this level of micromanagement?

They are simply trying to justify their job. Doesn't mean they are honest with your FCR's.

Trying to justify their job? BAHAHAHA their job means nothing and they just keep circling around each other . Check out the jobs at other big pharma companies - how many of those people have actually sold a product successfully!!!!!!!!!!!! Once they suck up enough to get to management level then they just cover for one another. The mid=atlantic chic is the worst - she came from Lily and apparently she thinks she still works there! She was a DM and now she is an RSD and all she does is demand metrics and thinks that will help her win!! Guess all those losses with Zyprexa didn't show her anything GO MID+ATLANTIC ha ha ha ha

the people at the top get paid for metrics because they can't be truly held accountable for the sales. what they can be accountable for is ensuring everyone enters a bunch of box checks to make it look like everyone is out there working their tail off (and they get paid on % attainment of calls)

Bottom line this is a big game, big pharma has infiltrated lundbeck thanks to all the external "talent" so they think they are that came from other companies. It's easier to do what they were programmed to do than actually be different and trust their people to go out and do the best possible job. Last I checked LU isn't doing much to retain their top people with any sort of golden handcuffs.

I've heard that this morphing to the 1990s way of life is happening/has happened to other companies like Novo and Otsuka, too.

Seemingly, we start out with best intentions, and we're told that we are unique, innovative, and powerful, like a small team of special forces guys. Then, like a flock of crows, upper management gets attracted by the bright and shiny objects known as managerial "firees" from the Big 5 (AZ, Merck, Pfizer, BMS, Novartis).

2-3 years later, the smaller company is implementing the same crap that the Big 5 did back in 1990s when they had many blockbusters: pods of reps calling on the same customer, reps filling out all types of activity trackers, frequent conference calls where reps and account managers lie about their success stories in the field, 3-in-a-car, intra-district work activity contests, weekly rah-rah conference calls where managers lie about their team's success stories, training switching to different sales models every 2 years.

Does any of this sound familiar??

Look at leadership and where everyone came from... Of course we have big pharma thinking and big pharma attitudes.
    PA- Lilly and BMS
    JA- Lilly and jnj
    GJ- Pfizer, AZ
    MM- takeda
    TR- Abbott
LDC- lu only!!!!! Let's follow her

Where do you expect them to come from? Where do all of the field get their experience??

Perhaps it is because the company has not met its numbers the last two years. Good riddance!

Numbers? Are you kidding? This company thinks it will reach $1B this year when very few are hitting their goals( with the exception on those in the NE who have a good managed care situation.) Oh wait when we get the new co-pay card we will all hit the jackpot

And to add another reason GJ is out of touch: he schedules a nationwide webex at noon Eastern time. Gee Glover, you think some of us may actually be working at that time seeing customers?
